Owlie

That is the name , we gave the owl who always come at any of the backyard trees in my parents’ house.
Since March this year, he keeps coming at the backyard when night comes. My sister would feed him pork liver and the like.
He seems to let us know when he is already there and us inside the house. He would hoot which is a signal for my sisters that he is already there.
One time we all go to the tree and my sister fed him with slices of pork liver. Though, after eating he flew to another tree tree. He seemed to feel shy or would want to rest already.
We named him Owlie.
He is our everyday guest at night.
Have you seen an owl in real life?

He seems quite tame. I would love to have a visiting owl but they are quite rare where I am - I suppose that there are no mice to be had here. I have seen owls, though. We have Little Owls which can sometimes be seen in daylight perched on fence posts and there are also plenty of owls of many different kinds in a local Raptor centre. I was once lucky enough to handle a Barn Owl which flew and landed on my hand (suitably gloved, of course) for a treat of a chicken leg which I was given to hold.
As you can tell, perhaps, I am fond of owls and I don't think them at all scary. A young Philippina friend once named me 'Lolo Kuwago'.

@SIMPLYD Indeed - "Lolo" (because she adopted me as her grandfather) and "Kuwago", of course, because I was already and had for long been an 'Owl' - online, anyway! Perhaps in my next life I shall reincarnate as one. I may even come and hoot in your tree (and accept any chopped liver you might have) but I do have a number of other trees to visit elsewhere!

@owlwings You certainly are loved by people around you, like that Filipina who adapted you as her grandfather. Nice grandfather name " lolo kuwago".
Well, should you reincarnate into an owl, please do visit us. we will surely give you a delicious treat.

So, that is why you adapted this myLot name of yours because you were once in a Barn Owl. It must have been a wonderful experience that the owl flew and perched on yoir gloved hand.
It must be so painful if your hands weren't with gloves.
So you have a Filipina friend. That's indeed a Tagalog term Lolo Kuwago.

@SIMPLYD I have some photos somewhere of the owl I saw at the zoo. At first, I did not know it was real and thought it was fake since it stayed still for a long time.

Your sister is kind to Owlie, but as likely as not ,he can't be bothered to hunt the mice from now on.By the way, what type of tree does the Owlie perch on in the picture ?

My sister loves animals as well asnplants.
I don't know the English term for this.tree though. We call it Kamias. It is a very juicy and sour fruit that we put it to make sour our simply just boiled with salt and olive oil, fish.
The fruit slices becomes so delicious to eat with fusion of the sourness to the salt and olive oil.

I had seen some in zoos but not in the wild. Owlie is so cute .
Do you have plans to harvest those Bilimbi fruits? Put them on a blender with water and honey, then add ice cubes, its refreshing.

Just like you, i also saw an owl for the first time in a zoo.
Now, i have seen it near and it is Owlie.
I am happyyou suggested this refreshing drink. I told my sisters, because I am here right now at my mother's house , that you suggested this refreshing drink.
We will buy first honey , since it is already consumed completely. ANd also we will have the fruits grow bigger so it would be so juicy.

Wow you got an owl friend there. I think when there'a an owl roaming around there are many mice/mouse around your vicinity. It's my first time seeing one that is not in a cage. I think he is also interested in you since he seemed like he is looking straight at you.

@SIMPLYD We have the woods behind our house. Everything seems to live in it. Lol!
I saw a snowy owl when I was a little girl. My father noticed it on the open window of my room. Those windows opened out like doors. A very rare sighting!

@SIMPLYD I've been to a zoo but I've not seen an owl there. BTW, there are 5 or 6 kinds of birds than come to our yard and almost each one of our plants (the eugenias and the green dust) have a nest :)
