Thursday 11th July was the day I had some voluntary work that proved to be paid work (money expected at the end of the month). My assignment was helping to judge research student presentations of heir papers on important fields in which they are working.
Presentations included medical nano-technology, which sounded right out of science fiction, but some advances are in progress. Another study focused on adult urinary incontinence, and trying to find out why the elderly need to get up to visit lavatories as they age. Why our bladders wear out early on in ageing is a mystery.
We had expenses paid, and a very nice buffet lunch with the students.
A the project, which travels round the UK annually to different universities, many students were from out of town, so evening meals were provided at hired bars each evening they were here and as I had helped out assessing the presentations I was invited to the second night's meal too, in a cafe-bar in a beautiful public park, Avenham Park, a favourite walking area for me anyway. It was a lovely evening with free wine and bottled beers too.
Friday 12th July was something of an anti-climax, a day of job search and shopping.
On Saturday 13th July, I popped to the city centre library and got a great surprise. The main square outside the library was being used for a Viking re-enactment show, and a great friend from Manchester was taking part, so I got to chat with him between their displays. I got several photos of the show too. Great to see you again Shaggy.

@arthurchappell I'm sure it was great fun. Vince and I were both in local repertory clubs in our young days. They were great fun too.

Since I get up just about every hour to empty my bladder, I would be quite interested in learning more about the project and the conclusions they find.

@1hopefulman early days for her research as yet - mainly seeking causes and reasons. Hope you get a solution to the problem soon. It must be a real nuisance .
