The Grand Canyon

I'll never forget the first time we walked up to the observation deck and took our first look out over the canyon. Pictures do not properly show the massiveness and the beauty of the Grand Canyon. What also hit me was the silence. There are no birds chirping or trees rustling...it's absolute silence. The Grand Canyon is located in the State of Arizona in the United States. It was carved by the Colorado River and measures 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide and 6,093 feet deep. Nearly a billion years of Earth's geological history has been exposed as the river and its tributaries cut through layer after layer of rock. Several recent studies show that the Colorado River established its course 5-6 million years ago. For thousands of years the area has been inhabited by Native Americans within the canyon and its caves. Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon? Photo Credit: Pixabay

Yes, my parents took us on road trips across the country when we were kids. I'd like my husband to see it.

I've never been there, but I can imagine it must be a beautiful experience for anyone who's been there.
