When you hear or read about woolly mammoth you think that they went way back in history and were already extinct when the pyramids were built. However, a small population of woolly mammoths were alive and well on a small island called Wrangel Island off the coast of far eastern Siberia in Russia until about 1650 BCE. The oldest of the Egyptian pyramids the Great Pyramids were built between 2667 and 2648 BCE, so woolly mammoths were still alive at this time. If the Egyptians had known about these woolly mammoths don’t you think they could have been used to help with building the pyramids?

Imagine how differently history would have worked out if they used animals instead of children and slaves.

That was my thought too but who knew those huge beasts were just hanging out on an island so far away @DesirousDreamer interesting how things work out in history and then later get found out

Early humans used their tusks and bones for art and tools. They also hunted these elephant-like animals. Interesting that they survived to Egyptian times.
