Hi guys how are you all today.Me here it is cloudy at the moment and maybe tonight it will rain hard again like last night. But i'ts okay because I can sleep real good if rain pours in my roof and make a sound and it is so calming.I am cooking tonight a macaroni dish and also a little steak and meatballs for our meal and I added frying a dried fish.
Being a Filipino,I am used to eat dried fish when I was young because we are poor and this kind of foods are one of the kind that my parents serve us in our table with rice and vegetables.I know some of you hates to eat dried fish because of the smell and it is too salty. But for me I understand because if you are not used to the food then you don't need to eat it.But I like it.Have a happy day mylotters with all my love.

I always like dried fish, but not the salty ones; I wash it again and then put vinegar and crushed fresh garlic as dip to lessen the salty taste.

Our traditional curry is dryfish with any green vegetables, One of my favourite. Yes some people never like the smell but for me dryfish is like an aroma

I love dried fish. Every time I go home to Pinas and come back to my home in Germany, I bring dried fish for me and for my friends here. I don´t fry the dry fish here in our kitchen because of the smell but I let my sis fried them all in her garden burner and we shared them with others. In fact, I still have dried fried fish in my fridge. I would ignore lechon if I see this food on the table.

It's very hot here and some rain would be good but I don't think we will have any.

I do not like dried fish although my wife does. When we were packing up the house to move I opened the food cupboard and the smell coming from the bag was awful. I thought what ever it was had gone off. I threw it away. A month or so after we moved my wife asked me where did I pack the brown paper bag that was in the food cupboard. I told her I thought it had gone off whatever it was so threw it all away. She was not too pleased because it was dried fish and quite a lot of it!

@janethwayne OH yes it was true alright and still she often scolds me for it as I think there was quite a bit of fish in the packet. That happened 20 years ago and she still is mad at me for doing it! Sometimes women never forget!

So it sounds like you cook the fish first which is when it's stinky and then dry it possibly to last longer. Does that make it similar to jerky? I've not had it but might consider trying it once, maybe. What type of fish is used?

The fish is called kokolan here in my place but I really don't know what is this called in your country.Yes first is I rinse it and then fry and sometimes I add tomatoes and onion and chili peppers into it and a little bit of water to simmer and put sugar and vinegar to taste.

Even I love to sleep with sound of rain tapping my roof.
I am a vegetarian by choice and for my health reasons. Sometimes I try chicken and fish. I love fish curry but only with fresh fish. As you said the smell might not be liked by someone like me who is not used to it. My brother however likes dried fish curry.

*grimace* Yes, I certainly won't eat dried fish... or fish at all, if I can help it!
The steak and meatballs does sound interesting to me, though. Although I would fix some other pasta to go with the meat(s). Probably some angel hair pasta with white sauce or something similar.
I also grew up in a poor family but fish wasn't something we usually ate. I grew up on a farm in the middle of the continental United States. We raised cattle for meat and milk plus hogs and chickens to supply our family with meat. We also had several acres dedicated to our kitchen garden to supply our vegetables.
I hope your day is/was pleasant and the weather comfortable.

Thanks for sharing your life and it is very interesting. Some people really can't adopt it but I understand that and we only stick to the things that we are used to and happy about.

I can't actually say I wouldn't like it because I've never tried it. However the macaroni, steak and meatballs sound good

I never tried dried fish. That would definitely be a different experience. I have tried steak, meatballs and macaroni though and I can give those foods a thumbs up
