if you had had to spend $40,000 in one month what would you buy? There are limits on what you can and can't spend the money on. What would you do?

I could spend a lot on that amount. In my place, that is a very big amount already about 2M in my local currency so there is pretty much you can buy with it.

@velvet53 Actually I have no idea yet since I have not been able to hold that much money yet, But I have a lot in my mind. It could not buy me a house yet. Maybe a car we can have already by that amount and maybe trips here and abroad would be good also.... I am confused what I really would want.

A good minivan would take care of that in one fell swoop and still leave you owing about ten grand.

Diamond could de-value. Even with GIA, many won't buy at estimated value. How about 24K Gold :)

@infatuatedbby 24K Gold also devalue, diamonds devalue if you mount them into a ring, keep the diamond in the sealed package with the certificate and it keeps its value. You can keep with you a small diamond in case of need, you cannot move "pounds of gold".

The money has to be spent on you only. It has to be items that you could use personally.

I never like these kinds of questions. One because I have that amount of money, and way more than that, and do not spend IT, and because I am such a saver, to me spending $40,000 in a month would just be a total waste of money.

@divalounger That is good. You know what you are doing. My husband, well ex husband and now deceased couldn't believe how much I had paid ahead on both of the properties we had. When we divorced we both agreed to keep our wills as they were. I kept my word but he didn't so I got nothing.

That is not boring but wise my dear. It is a great and smart way to spend it.When you pay ahead on your mortgage it knocks a lot of the interest off. Been there and done that.

So far you are the only one to mention what you can and can't spend it on. This is the main factor. Real estate is one thing thqat can be bought.

@velvet53 well that is what I would do then, a very small place, as an investment, I am just thinking that here everything is so high, but the further, you move to the country it is cheaper. So I could get something.

I would invest it so it would keep growing. However, if I needed to spend it and not invest it for future growth, I would buy a new car not a used one. If there was money left over, a new computer. Then I would look at refurnishing my apartment.
