Do you binge-watch?

I've never binge-watched anything before, as I've only had old-fashioned TV. Since they changed the net- and TV-deal where I live I haven't got a TV-package yet, I decided I try other stuff first. What I've done before is binge-read. I'd find an author I liked and read everything I could find, or everything til I started on a book I didn't like. When I found how to connect my TV to my computer I started with some Father Brown episodes. Then I watched the second series of Trapped (Icelandic crime series). I've now found out that I can watch German documentaries on ZDF. Probably also other places, but I still have many left. Today I've seen one about the Vatican, two about genes and now I'm in the middle of one about the Stone Age. I have friends that will binge-watch Say yes to the dress or Home and away. Do you binge-watch? And if you do, what do you watch?

I thought about that before I found the documentaries. What series do you watch?

No, I do not binge-watch. I have watched a few online videos of "Say yes to the dress" just for curiosity, I cannot see how people would like to see a "series" of those videos.

I watched 5 minutes of "Say yes to the dress" because my friends recommended it. Took "revenge" by recommending a fascinating documentary about how they lacked blood for operations in some obscure region of Germany. And yes, I saw the whole thing. Very German and very thourough.

@LadyDuck I've been watching the German documentaries 'cause I haven't tried to find other ones online yet. There's some Swedish programs I'd quite like to watch. I think there's a similar show about the bridesmaids dresses. Very strange IMO

@Torunn I know I could not watch the German documentary, but I was puzzled about the silly show about the wedding dress.

Yes to the Dress is my moms favorite show, I don't care for it, quite boring to me, and over priced dress, but people do like it.

I tried to watch it to find out why my friends liked it. I didn't succeed. Boring's a good word to describe it for me too

Castle for 3 days? Not the worse choice if you have nothing else to see, he's easy on the eye, that one :-)

@crazyhorseladycx I'm trying to figure out how I can get BBC documentaries and other stuff without having to pay for a all the Disney channels and other stuff I don't want. There might be a new streaming service next spring, showing mainly documentaries.

To see lot of the same series in once. Say you see all the Harry Potter films in a weekend, or spend a day watching old episodes of Friends.

We don't have a tv, but I watch shows and documentaries online. At the moment I am watching a lot of videos about true crime stories like people who disappeared and still haven't been found. Sometimes I binge watch ,but most of the time I just watch a one of two episodes at a time.

@Torunn I know that can be done (hiding your country) but I have no idea how to do it Some documentaries are blocked here, but many of the American crime documentaries are available.

@Porcospino Even some of the stuff from Sweden is blocked here. I think it can be done by VPN but I've only used that to read emails before so I need a manual.

They have some of those shows in German too, but most of them can't be viewed outside Germany. Might at some point have to figure out how to fool TV/computer into believing that I'm in Germany/the UK so I can watch everything I want

I do binge watch tv and binge read. I love tv and probably spend too much time watching shows and I have a pile of books that could probably last me a lifetime. I do tend to read the same authors when I find a book I like

I've been checking amazon now, there's some crime authors that I haven't read for a while that I used to binge-read. Considering checking out if I could get my Kindle to work, 'cause that would mean binge-reading without worrying about where to put the books

To me, binge watching is 3 or 4 episodes of a series a day. We just binge watched 3 seasons of Stranger Things. Previously, it was Dexter, Breaking Bad, Longmire, and some English mysteries.

More than 3 to 4 episodes a day is difficult on normal days. With work and other things that needs to be done, more would be difficult for me. I've seen more than that now, but it's still holidays and the last day of this heatwave, so I haven't been outside since 11. Too warm = lot of German documentaries

@Torunn Sometimes we only watch one episode or none. We are retired, so we have lots of time IF we are home. I hope you enjoy binge watching some good shows when you have the time.

My wife and I tend to binge watch almost everything. We have the DVR so we record shows we like on cable and we also have a Roku which lets us watch stuff on Netflix and Prime. We watch a variety of shows.

Recording is good, then you can see it whenever you want to. The streaming is working out quite fine, but I'm still not paying for anything. I'll figure out that when the school term starts. Seems like there's quite a few other options in the UK and the US.

@porwest Maybe in some years, but not yet. At least not here. If I want the same TV-channels I have to pay more than 50 % more.

@Torunn There probably are more options here than there. Ultimately the real question will be whether or not the whole streaming thing will be cheaper than cable in the end.

@Ladanger They make some movies and shows that you can only see on netflix if I'm not mistaken? I hardly ever see films at home, I prefer the cinema.
