Have you ever wondered how the meteorologists come up with the heat index or "feels like" temperature? Some are tired of hearing about the weather I know. And I am tired of feeling the heat. Nothing I can do about it so I thought I would try to learn a few things.
Below is a link to a heat index calculator from weather.gov, a reliable website. If you are interested, you can compute your own heat index number. You can enter either Fahrenheit or Celsius temperatures.
Right now, our temperature is 97 F, and the humidity is 49%. The "feels like" (or I call the real temperature) is 110 F. That is why I am staying inside.

Heat could become excruciating, especially when the El Nino Phenomenon comes. Yet, I am used to the heat, my country being in the tropics. One way to combat heat is to eat watery fruits like watermelon. Drinking water helps, too.

Thanks for the calculator. I'm a weather nut anyway. Tomorrow and all of next week we get a break from this horrible heat! Yay!

Oh wow, the 97 itself is hot....but the feels like temp is insane! Sorry it's so hot there! I was just looking at ours and we are at 80, with a feels like temp of 86. So, not quite as bad here!

@CarolDM I'd agree, since that is what it really feels like. That's good if you do. We are going to be warmer next week here! 97 on Monday I think.
