Here is a quiz with some of my favorite songs which reference, contribute to, or are associated with hot weather.
Well, summer is here at last! Or as the group The Cars might say, "Summer, Summer, Summer." And from the posts I am starting to see complaining about how hot and humid it is in some regions of the world, summer has definitely arrived. For "Some Who Like It Hot" it's a time to celebrate, for others a three month wait before we start to cool off. So, in tribute, here are some hot weather songs just for you!
This was some week of steamy near record breaking weather in my area. And this song says it all as temps consistently hit the 90's and close to 100F.
Hope you enjoyed that video song and the wild guitar riffs by Sammy Hagar. Now onward to those song and artist clues. These tunes are as "hot as highway blacktop."
Whodunnit? Do you know these songs or artists?
1. This tune from the "hair metal era" describes an intense relationship between a young couple and what the future will hold for them. The whole song is just an apology," said the band member who wrote this tune about his girlfriend and future wife. The song was the biggest hit (#4 charter on Hot 100) from these four All-Star band members. One could say that song from their well-received debut album packed some major "heat." Each member had previous success with earlier well-known groups like King Crimson, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer and the Buggles. This band, who named themselves after a continent, were an English progressive rock band that formed in London in 1981.
2. This artist won the Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal every year from 1980-1983. She married her guitarist and musical director in 1982. This song was the title track off her 1979 debut album. Part of the title name could be a way of describing passionate love in the evening. This singer is well known for these two popular tunes; "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and "Love Is A Battlefield."
Video Bonus- Sammy Hagar replaced David Lee Roth in the band Van Halen. But our music video artist came to prominence in the 1970s with this hard rock band. Do you know what band this Red Rocker played with before venturing on a solo career?
Alright, time to get "a hot hand" and use those above clues and solve this music quiz. Remember part of the song title has a "heat- themed" reference. If your stuck and need additional help just let me know in your response. "I'll Back You Up" if more clues are needed. As always, thanks for reading and responding to my music post !!!!

1. I got to meet them! Think of the “superstars” in that band, and they did an in-store in Norfolk. Yeah, Norfolk. I didn’t have to go all the way to Asia to meet them!
2. Now, you see, if the rain in James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” had been falling in the winter and froze, that song would have the same title as Mrs. Giraldo’s tune.
BONUS: I’ll leave that one for JJ, our Red Rocker fan deluxe.
And in the “six degrees” department, did you see my covers list where I mentioned both Sammy (as the artist covered) and Pat (the one doing the cover)?

NO WAY! Carl Palmer of ELP would of been enough for me Taylor finished writing Fire and Rain while in rehab for heroin addiction. On the bright side, that tune established him as a successful songwriter. I must of missed that degree in "hot pursuit" of those other degrees of songs

Not a big fan of this song but I do like the guitar playing in the song. And the song sure is about being "hot."
