Guns in America

All this talk on gun reform had gotten me uneasy. Every dictator has taken the guns when they took over... Do you think it happening in America will be any different. The Only thing that a gun reform would do is take guns from the citizens who follow laws. Drugs are illegal but drug addicts still get them. When people realize it's safer for everyone to be armed then for only the criminals to be armed it'll make America safer. Statistics show that crime rates areas with gun restrictions are higher than those that don't have regulations on guns. Plus the right to bear arms was put into place in order to keep the government in check and it shouldn't be changed.

I was in the US Army Infantry. Trust me. Even if everyone in your town had a fully automatic M-16, a well-trained company of infantrymen in Strikers or Bradleys, backed up by a platoon of Abrams tanks, with mortars in support could take your town in a matter of hours while suffering very few casualties. Make it a full battalion with a battery of 155mm artillery in support, a squadron of Apache's flying cover, F-15E Strike Eagles on call, and a C-130 Gunship orbiting overhead, and it would be over before it got started. That's before the B-52s got off the ground, once they entered the picture, well, you do the math.
Would this ever happen in the US? Hopefully not. But imagining the citizenry would last long against the military should it ever come down to an actual fight is a pipe dream. Your talking about holding out against a military that obliterated the 4th largest army in the world, equipped with the best Soviet military hardware money could buy, in four days.
