Feeling the Burn

I’m not talking about the heat and humidity that left us last night. I’m talking about the new class I began today at my gym. It’s called Barre. I’m not a ballerina, but my personal trainer suggested I try it. It is a mixture of ballet, Pilates, and yoga. He thought it would help me with flexibility, core, balance, strength, and cardio. All I can say is that as active as I am, I used muscles I didn’t know I had! I’m already a bit achy, but will definitely take this class again on Friday. What do you do for exercise?

@DianneN Yes, I am thin and slim. I probably don't need to exercise, but I do like moving and want to take care of myself. As you say, exercise is important.

I enjoy swimming. I am thinking in the fall, I will go back to yoga. The poor lady probably thought I hated the class since I didn't go back, but I will!

I'm gonna use the ol' cliche "No pain, no gain" . Your know-how of modeling certainly comes out with your posture and poses! I've never official taken "Barre", but certainly my home exercising is a mish mash of workouts . I stretch, dance, walk and I'm just generally up and about - but I really should do more (skating is not in the cards at this point). I also like to think up PT stuff for various areas for the little pain areas that I have - my pseudo strength training I guess.

No pain, no gain is my motto. I'm not a whiner nor do I like to complain, but this barre routine was tougher than it sounded. . You certainly do seem active to me. Is your pain from your former figure skating or the accident? Whatever, certain exercises by a trained pro can help relieve it.

I did too much for my first day, but who cares. I'll live. I was a skinny mini when the boys were little, so I hear ya! You will definitely have more time to do the things you love to do as the kids get older.

I think that’s a good kind of exercise. Usually the only thing I can do for now is to move my right feet and hip and lift them. So far it’s still not strong.

@DianneN I’ve always noted in your post that you are surrounded by conscientious business establishments. Who recall faulty products and won’t pounce on an opportunity to earn more. Here you’d probably get people charging you for perfect teeth (making up minor non existent problems).

They do sell home versions which work very well. As it turned out, they sent me home. They told me my teeth were white enough. I was happy they were so honest and didn’t charge me.

@DianneN We used to walk and play together every day, but not from about one week. My husband has a problem, a sharp pain in his leg and foot. We saw his Orthopedist today and he ordered a new Lumbar MRI, I hope it's nothing serious.

@LadyDuck I hope it’s nothing serious, too. I will send him prayers. My husband went to the orthopedic surgeon yesterday. His foot had been bothering him for a month or so. Turns out he had a callous rubbing on a small bone and he’s fine now. Hopefully, you’re husband will be fine, too. Keep me posted.

I'm taking Advil right now. I know I will be worse tomorrow. Lol! But I love exercising and know that you swim and workout, too. I try to go a little bit further or try that much harder each day. I do miss my bike riding in Florida, so signed up for spinning. It's not the same, but I love the music and the friends I spin with. The bike we have in our basement hurts my tush too much, no matter how many seats we've bought or how well we pad it.

@DianneN Some bike seats are never comfortable. I was trying for harder yesterday. I'm going to back off and keep it the same until I know I'm ready to increase it. By the way, I love that tunic you're wearing. Or whatever it's called. It's beautiful!
