remembering something that didn't happen or happen the way you remember

Have you ever remembered something that didn't actually happen? Not like a dream where you thought it was real but something that your brain obviously pieced together from events that actually happened and other people remember it the same way. @Srbageldog and I were talking about "Time Traveler's Wife" and we both swore Gerard Butler was the main character in that movie only he was never actually in that movie. She looked this up because she was curious if we were the only ones who thought this and we are not there are several other people who are confused because they too obviously implanted him in this movie he was never in. We both swear that we saw this movie BECAUSE he was in it only to find out he wasn't. It's odd that so many people put him in a movie he was clearly never in. It's like the whole SHAZAM phenomenon all over again where everyone created a movie that didn't exist at the time swearing they saw it. While I'm sure many people don't actually think Gerard Butler is in this movie there are still several that do or did. I find it so amusing that both of us thought he was in this movie and he wasn't. Has anyone else ever had one of these moments?

Honestly that never happened to me. But what you are describing here is what they call the Mandella Effect. I have seen many videos on Youtube about this. I find it interesting and funny as well. We are only human and our memories are not always accurate. So I would not go looking to fond some strange reason why this happens to people.

I couldn't remember what it was called my mind went blank but I did know the name of it originally. I had actually read an article on it at one time because I thought it was interesting. It's amazing how the human mind can do things like that.

@sissy15 I know the feeling. Not remembering something is very frustrating. I have had times when I could not remember fully about something that I knew happened. But I never felt that way about something that never happened.

@inertia4 It is but this is a first for me remembering something that didn't happen. I have heard it happening to other people but that was never the case for me until recently.
