My sister in law asked her dad about a breach in data that got out. After my father in law check about it he let us know that the breach in date was real. So this evening my husband and I went and put our SSI and our kids into the place where you can check to see if your data was breached because if it was they are giving you money more if your ID was stole. Both my husband and I are getting $125 because our data was leaked. Thankfully it ID’s where not. Now we are waiting on our checks to come in.
This is the article about the breach.

Some people where and some people were not. Both of my parents where and so was my husbands dad and step mom. But his two sisters where not.

It's a small price they give for having your data leaked. Well, better than nothing.

I have never used Equifax so I did not check. I did hear about it. Awesome you are getting checks but not good that data was breached.

You don’t have to use it for your data to be leaked. It’s a company that runs a lot of things. It never hurts to check to make sure. Data is easily stole there is no way to 100% safe guard it ever. Even with credit cards with pins all you need is a card reader and the second you scan it on anything even type it in on line it can be taken by anyone at random. All they need to do is pay some money for it.

I was not impacted, I heard about this. You get the 125 if you already have credit protection and don't need it. They are offering the protection.
Checks won't be out for awhile, according to the article.

That’s because they just settled yesterday and it’s always good to check. If leaked you get the $125. They ask if you don’t have protection they will offer it to you. It’s a check box so ours was a no because we do have protection but the protection in general actually doesn’t protect form your stuff getting ours people on the black market just pay and can have anyone’s most just ask at random sans you info can be give to anyone.
Yes it can be between now and the next 6 months when we will get the checks. Hopefully sooner then later. I filled my parents today for them.

@ShyBear88 I read it yesterday, I seen the boxes, most of the people I knew that this applied to did not have the credit protection from them. I agree the protection may not protect a thing.
I think once your info is out there, it is already being sold.
I have my credit checked by one of my credit cards at no cost, but my information was found on the dark web.
