Upsetting News

I usually don't vent here. But here goes. I am so upset. My 90 y/o uncle I have talked about recently, he had a birthday just this month. His wife passed three days after his birthday. I just found out today.
This means he has been alone for two weeks and I did not know one thing about it. I live in another state. But the phone lines do carry over the state line. A little sarcastic words there. I am so upset I can hardly type. Now I wonder if I will be contacted when my uncle passes in time for his funeral.
I will catch up tomorrow with you guys. Have been on the phone the last couple of hours trying to find out what is going on.

In part I agree with you Ann, but in the sentence where you say " Friends are a lot better than family"you should put that sometimes, not always. This is because there are families or family members, that if they are interested and always communicate. Then it is wrong to label them all. Although as I told you before I agree with you because many times the help comes first or more effectively when it is from a friend or a stranger even, rather than from the same family. In my country there is a saying that "there is no worse wedge, than that of the same stick"

This was hurtful, for you. And why they chose to do things this way, there's no excuse good enough.
My family is this way. When my Aunt&Uncle passed away, we were not contacted. I have never been on bad terms with their kids.

@CarolDM I'm sure she did this on purpose, just to be mean. My sisters do things like this, quite often. Then say, that I need to get some tough skin! We just stay away, so our life remains peaceful.

That is upsetting. Even my mother wouldn't do that, and I found out after the fact one time, that my dad was in the hospital..

Yes I believe this..I have the same with a mean person that would not let me know this important news. And I am sorry to hear it RIP the lady.

@CarolDM your uncle is very lucky to have such a loving and caring niece. Not everyone cares about older relatives these days.
