Bad habits and Growth blockers

Something I notice everyday is pointless or unnecessarily long arguments or debates. Sometimes on serious issues, other times on petty issues.
Some people want to be right all the time as if there's a price for it. You discuss with someone, the person has seen that his/her points are inferior to yours but he/she keeps arguing for the sake of habit.
This habit is a huge growth blocker. Many people have it unfortunately. When someone has better points.. Tell the person you're right. You'll grow.
Someone's points seem convincing but you think you need to think it through.. Say you need to cross check and think it through, simple. When you've crosschecked, sincerely, admit you were wrong or go back with better points if you've found a superior line of thought.
Some people are not realising that in order to learn, you will be wrong plenty times and it doesn't matter... This is how you learn, grow and get better..

I find it honorable when people simply say you have a point. I will be first to admit sometimes my ego gets the best of me but at same time proud of myself when someone clearly thought about something and brought a point I never thought about.

You're so right. Its a constant struggle with our ego amd sometimes it gets the better of us especially in public. I have been told a few times during arguments that I'm only good at arguing, I should have been a lawyer, bla bla bla..
These people do not realise that in order to learn, you will be wrong plenty times and it doesn't matter. Learning meanwhile is a continuous process, it never stops.
Personally, I practice solitude and thinking sometimes.. I love my company.. Lol. And when I'm with friends, I try to not let pride get the better of me.

I usually debate a lot, I like to know all the points of view, besides that my profession as a lawyer is a key point of why I love debates, and I consider myself that at one time I was very stubborn, something that I have been correcting with years and maturity, to the point that I have achieved a level of tolerance that I like, yes, I always defend the beliefs that I have with conviction, but always respecting and even soaking myself of knowledge regarding the point of others. You can learn a lot from it.

@Olorire Well yes, we all want for some reason (and we like) to be right, it is as if the human being felt pleased, ecstatic to be right, but a lot of ego is bad, it goes to your head.
