1981 - 700 million people worldwide watched the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, to Lady Diana Spencer in London.
1974 - "Mama" Cass Elliot passed away. She died in her sleep of heart failure. She was an American singer and actress born in 1947. She is best known for being a member of the Mamas & the Papas. After the group broke up, she continued on with a successful solo career. Some of the most remembered songs with the group and as a solo artist are: California Dreamin', Monday Monday, Words of Love, Dream a Little Dream of Me and Make Your Own Kind of Music.
She had one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard.
