My cookbooks are being neglected

I used to sit down with one of my cookbooks each week as I planned out the daily meals for my husband and I. Back then I didn't have to worry about a food budget or my bank account. . . These days I'm just cooking for one and I'm buying cheaper things like chicken and ground turkey instead of beef, shrimp, and fish. There's only so much you can do with chicken and ground turkey and my cookbooks don't have a lot to say on those matters. I have almost 100 cookbooks and I miss them. I will have to save up some money and give myself a splurge week before work starts again. Pati's Mexican Table is the cookbook of the month at Chowhound for August and I have that one in my collection. I guess I'll be making some Mexican.

You are such a good cook you can create your own cookbook with your chicken and ground turkey meals.

@Marilynda1225 exactly. I have enough leftovers for several more meals but there's only so much turkey meatloaf I want to eat in a row, ya know?

There is tons you can do with chicken. You can always find recipes online... I love chicken but I can get tired of it if I am eating a lot of it.

I made chicken marsala last week. Chicken parmesan the week before. I get tired of chicken pretty quickly.

I love reading on Chowhound! I don't cook too much in the summer, but when cooler weather comes, we definitely do.

Most of my cookbooks are still in a box in the garage - from when we moved here like 7 years ago . Any recipe I still cook is now memorized, but I don't want to get rid of certain cookbooks - I love my cookbooks. I've gotten lazy and have just looked up recipes online.

@NJChicaa Some are good, some are bad. But for sure my cookbook recipes have mostly been keepers.

I feel like chicken is the easiest thing to work with but it can get boring after a while. Have fun exploring your cookbooks again!
