It seems when I travel, my eyes open to so many things. The past 2 weeks, we were on a multiple island Caribbean Cruise. Today, I want to specifically talk about Puerto Rico. Let me begin with, we loved visiting there and appreciated the honesty and zest for life that the people of Puerto Rico have and share with tourists every day.
While there, the protests for the governor were at their height. He actually resigned the day after we left Old San Juan on our way to our next port. However, I never felt unsafe or concerned in my time in Puerto Rico. Nobody was upset with me for anything. Are their better ways to handle their unhappiness for their government? I don't know, it's not my place to determine as I don't live there.
Here is what I did see while there. I saw people that love vibrant colors and are proud of their food and their culture. I saw amazing beaches and majestic forts. I saw people trying to make a living during a very challenging time. It was AMAZING to visit Puerto Rico. I will go back.
Now, here is the part I need help digesting! Two years ago, Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico. You can still see some of the impact, but what you may not know/realize is that there are still people without POWER in Puerto Rico. These are AMERICAN citizens without power for going on 2 years. Help me wrap my brain around that if you can...because in my mind, it is unacceptable.
God Bless Puerto Rico and may the hurricane season go easy on them this year.

I have never been but Puerto Rico is one country I would love to visit. That is crazy that some people still have no power how do they get by? Yes, I hope the hurricane season is not as bad for them or passes them by.

They are actually part of the United States. They are considered a United States Territory. However, they are spectacular at maintaining their own culture and pride which is awesome! We loved it there.
