Coupled with the increase in the prevalence and incidence of diabetes is an increasing burden of death and disability. If you suffer from any type of disease or you have more tension for family or work and your age is quite older then you must go for glucose tolerance test immediately and take treatment at first level.
For pregnant women there is high risk of diabetes and therefore they need this glucose tolerance test frequently. In 2000, diabetes was the sixth leading cause of death, contributing to the demise of more than 2,00,000 people, at least as reported on death certificate. This is likely a gross estimate because only about 35% to 40% of those dying with diabetes that listed anywhere on the death certificate. Overall the death rate for people with diabetes is about twice that the people without diabetes.
