Bacon shouldn't be put on EVERYTHING

Contrary to popular belief, bacon isn't a flavor for everything. Case in point, bacon flavored chocolate. It tasted like... a chocolate flavored dog biscuit. Which, of course, chocolate is deadly for dogs. Went to a candy factory in VA yesterday and got some bacon flavored chocolate (among other things) and well... I guess I could have done without the bacon flavored thing, but I was really curious. What food item have you been curious about but regretted getting?

No I wouldnt like that one either. By themselves yes but together no. I always regret getting some of those health foods for they are never as good as the regular in general.

Today I regretted getting guacamole. It wasn't the best I'd ever had. As for "health foods" I regretted getting flax seeds awhile back..

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes I can no longer take those flax seeds they do my digestive system in.

@TiarasOceanView I've read that flax seeds are one of those things that have to be taken in small doses or they'll do the opposite of what's intended.

My friend gave me a chocolate bar with bacon bits in it as part of a gift - yuck yuck yuck. The tastes just didn't meld together - it seriously tasted like chocolate AND bacon - I mean, I couldn't believe that anyone in their right mind would ever like this stuff. Some things people will say don't knock it til you try it . . . but I'm knockin' it. I am not a fan at all of frozen chocolate covered bananas - so not everything is good with chocolate either .

@ScribbledAdNauseum I forgot what they call 'em . . . chocolate dipped bananas maybe? I love bananas - just not as a frozen treat - and not with chocolate. I love chocolate and nuts but I had a friend who said he thought chocolate with nuts was disgusting. Everyone has different tastes I guess! I don't think I've ever had any other chocolate/bacon product . . . that bar was just a total turn off for me that I'd just never touch that combo again!

I don't think I've ever had a frozen chocolate covered banana but I love the combo of chocolate and banana. I think that some chocolate and bacan can go together, it just depends on how it's made. If it's made using real bacon (and the bacon is de-greased) then it might be alright.

I haven’t had bacon flavored chocolate. But I have had bacon dipped in chocolate and that was good. The one thing I regret trying was a rice balls filled with pickles. So gross i still cringe from the thought of it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum yeah I don’t like the chili’s one either. My husband likes them and I’m like nope.

@ShyBear88 It had been a long time since I'd been to Chili's. I got the brisket and sausage. About the only thing I was a fan of was the sausage, and the corn they gave me.

Oh I bet that bacon dipped in chocolate was amazing. As for rice balls filled with pickles? I don't know... I mean, I might like it but then I love pickles. I had pickles at Chili's the other day. The pickles weren't good, they were like.. halfway a pickle and halfway a cucumber. Not a fan.

Bacon only goes on some foods, of course not on everything. I tasted black chocolate with sea salt and it was good.

It's funny you should mention sea salt, I just had some on chocolate a few minutes ago. I wanted something sweet and so ate a chocolate bar that my boyfriend bought me a few days ago.

@LadyDuck Ah yes, I believe I've seen that before. When I was a stock clerk, I'd have to stock the candies sometimes. My favorite flavor is the dark chocolate with orange. I'm not sure if Lindt has it, but I believe they do.

You already know that I am weird about spices. I tried salsa rojo a few days ago (I hadn't had it awhile) and I had to eat a chip and some rice to get the spice out of my throat.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I once bought alpaca jerky to eat (similar to llama). I had to throw it away.

@marguicha Other than the deer meat jerky, I've only ever had beef or turkey jerky. Did the alpaca jerky have a very strange taste to it?

I think the most exotic meat I've ever tried is deer meat. However, the deer meat had been made into jerky.

I had bacon flavoured ice cream before. It was basically ice cream with bacon tidbits and a big chunk of it as garnish. I was expecting it to taste weird as I would never have thought those two can be put together in one sentence . But oddly the combination worked. I think the one who made it found the perfect taste balance. It was well thought. Some just mix anything to sound innovative without even considering if it’s edible. Gladly wasn’t the case. I regret eating a kangaroo steak! I never would’ve eaten it if it wasn’t offered to me at a party.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yep it was a real bacon. OMG why imitate bacon Goodness! There’s a limit to fakery. Yep that’s what I said when I first went to Australia. “I am never going to eat a kangaroo.” They are too cute to eat. But I was assigned in an Aboriginal Mental Health service and offered it and I thought it was disrespectful to refuse so I forced it in my throat. It was chewy like beef but not as delicious. It had a very strong smell. How did the pig stomach taste?
• United States
6 Aug 19
The imitation type bacon bits are nasty, and that's sort of what this tasted like. I guess the ice cream you had was using real bacon. Kangaroo steak, I'm not sure how I'd feel about eating that. I know there are some cultures that eat odd meats (whatever they have available, which is understandable) but I couldn't imagine eating kangaroo. I ate pig stomach once because it was offered to me... Though I didn't know it was pig stomach (it was in a soup).

@flapiz It's been so many years since I had the pig stomach... All I can recall is that it had a sort of squishy texture. I wasn't aware that it was in there until after I had eaten it. I think the smell would have put me off, but like you, I'd probably feel it was rude to refuse.

I do not eat very much bacon. I tried fried alligator once, but I regret getting it after I tasted it.

5 Aug 19
That is very interesting. Was it a tough type of meat? Now I'm curious. What made you regret it?
• United States
5 Aug 19
@Scrapper88 Maybe the meat is naturally oily? It could have been that they didn't properly cook the meat, or didn't know how to tenderize it. I don't think I'll ever get a chance to try it myself, but I'll keep that in mind when if I ever do try it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It might have been the way the person cooked it. It was a little tough, but it tasted like they cooked the meat in old grease. It was not what I expected.

I got a bacon topped donut last month, and it was delicious. However, when I got another later on, I discovered someone had put the bacon on the donut before draining the grease. It was so gross I couldn't eat it. It was a great treat until it wasn't.

I have gotten bacon topped donuts before as well... at this place called love, peace and little donuts (I think it's what it's called). That was yummy. Yeah, bacon grease is going to soak into the dough (even if it's already made) and well yuck. I bet they got a telling off!
