Remember my post about Little One and her pet woodlouse? Well we still have her living with us and now we have some exciting news from Lucy Louse’s corner… Lucy Louse has just moulted and grown a new shell! Until Lucy Louse came into our lives I never knew all that much about woodlice, but I did know that they are crustaceans, and I now also know that they moult their shells in two parts, front and back separately. In the picture you can see that her shell is two different shades of grey, because one part is newly moulted. And you can see the shed parts of the shell, even including the legs and antennae! Who knew that woodlice were so interesting? All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2019.

While I wouldn't have one as a pet, I am very much a live and let live person. Besides, they do their bit in the world!
