Do you like fog?

It's been to dry for it lately, but some mornings we get lot of lovely fog here. It's usually the light variety that looks good in photos but doesn't stop planes. In the mountains and out on the ocean it's worse, if the fog comes it's easy getting lost.
Took this picture of the morning mists at the beginning of the last pan-European heat-wave, when I went for a walk at 6 AM, before it got too warm.
What kind of weather to you like? Have you ever been caught in the fog?

I was born in Milan (Italy) that was called "Little London", because of the dense fog we had many months every year. I love fog, there is something magic when you walk in the fog, muffled sounds and noises from around and you only see things when you are very close.

I like the photo a lot. In my childhood my grandmother and I once got caught in fog. I wasn't very old and I was scared, but my grandmother didn't get worried, and we managed to find the way back.

@Torunn Yes, she had a really good sense of direction. I have never been good at that, and I often get lost when I visit a new place or when I move to a new area.

@Porcospino I don't have a very good sense of direction either. I have a quite good sense of place, I can figure out where things are pretty fast so the second time I'm somewhere, I'm usually OK.

i've a preference 'f brilliant sunshine, but used to 'njoy foggy morns most oft back'n the hills. 'twas a creek that ran 'cross the road 'n such 'twas magnificent to see 't come rollin' 'p whilst sittin' there'n the porch nursin' a cup 'f tea. a pup 'n cat 'neath my feet. all varieties 'f birds 'n other critters millin' 'bout. 'twas a slice 'f heaven. 'n the winter though, 'twas dangerous 's the area 'twas prone to ice fog. ya couldn't see yer hand'n front 'f yer own face 't times.
'tis most rare to get a fog'n these parts, 'cross open grasslands. 'tis a bit eerie to watch 't roll 'cross the plains.
the pic 'tis from my dad's front porch back'n tennessee.

That's just the kind of fog I love! Rolling around and settling here and there.
It can be quite eerie in the fog, I've been walking in it when there has been fog over the river, and all the birds are quiet. It's really quite unusual, no birds, no sounds of insects, just the wind.
Tennessee looks good

@crazyhorseladycx That sounds lovely! I'd really like to go back to the Faroe island. It was a bit like what you describe, but instead of forest, you'd sit on top of one island and look at the clouds and fog pass by on the other islands. I'm not patient enough to paint, but I'm sure it must be great fun to try to paint fog. The light is so different.
Tennessee sounds nice. Not sure if I've read anything about it before. Read a lot of Davy Crocket books as a child, he was all over the place, wasn't he? Maybe also in Tenneessee?
Computers are weird things. Can't live without them nowadays, but living with them can be hard too. I've got a lot, use 3 of them regularly. One for each job and one for all the pictures.

@Torunn such 'tis truly beautiful come autumn 's the trees 're painted'n a variety 'f colors ~ from bright yellow gold to deep shades 'f burgundy, all highlighted by the e'ergreens. a rollin' fog 'gainst such 'lways took my breathe 'way.
'nly island i've e'er been 'twas'n the middle 'f a lake, lol. not quite the same i'm certain. 'tis still most magical with a good fog. my brother 'twas the artist'n the family. painted many lovely thingies'n his short life. wonder where he'd be now if'n he'd lived? 'twas tragically killed 't 19.
yes ma'am, mr. crockett 'twas born'n tennessee :) 'tis a beautiful place, though very humid 'n that takes a bit to get used to. so many critters runnin' 'round, so much life to be 'njoyed.
i don't reckon i could get 'long with 3 puters? 've 'nough troubles with jest the one. can see where such'd be required though with yer jobs. i've multiple 'xternal drives fer all 'f my pics, lol.

Uhh I don't think so. It is especially terrifying for me if I have to drive. And on the word 'fog', the horror movie - Fog, comes to mind first

@Torunn As far as I can remember, the movie's action takes place on a ship engulfed by the fog. Horrible

We get what's called smoke fog here at times. So thick and dangerous if out driving in it.

@Torunn I remember school ending us home early because of fog but when we got out the fog was nowhere except round the school itself

I absolutely adore fog, more so a light fog rather than a heavy one. As I do not drive, I certainly do not mind walking in a fog especially with a dog... You really should visit Newfoundland Canada if you enjoy fog although their fog can be quite thick and restricts vehicle and plane traffic. BTW the picture you took is phenomenal...

@frankie2013 I would consentrate on one area, as Canada is huge! Can't do the whole country in one go unless I have lot of time. Lot of great woods there, isn't it? I love woods.

@Torunn Well I would love to visit Norway especially in the winter... Canada is a big and grand country to visit and it takes several days to go from coast to coast but is worth it...

@porwest I don't like rain when it's pouring down for weeks, but it's been so warm and dry in July that there's danger of forest fires. And right now it's 22.30 so if it rains now and then for some hours, that'd be perfect. Nice and not so dusty in the morning :-)

The last time I've seen that was in the province of Batangas and it was a church.
