May I Know Your Views About having The Caged Birds As Your Pets?

I have seen many people have very beautiful bird cages and to keep it occupied they get a bird and confine them in that! I feel bad for such caged birds! I think if anyone wants to have birds as the pets then they should have medium to large sized aviary where the birds should get freedom to fly and relax ! I never had any caged bird as my pet so far and I never even appreciate this. I got few friends of mine who have some nice aviaries where they house some love birds and keep them happy! When I say that they keep them happy that means in true sense as they breed and lay eggs and hatch them to get the young ones there in those aviaries only! May I know your views about keeping the the caged birds as your Pets?

Parrots also need free place to fly and relax! Don't you think cofining them to a restricted place and snatching their liberty will make them frustrated!

@Ghosthere2 , Then where is the problem? If they are given the freedom along with the basic needs and our company then I think they should be more than happy with us!

@AKRao24 What if there are places in the home where they are allowed to fly?

Just like you, I fee bad for caged birds. Birds need to fly, they must be free. I am against caked animals.

That is very true! I really can read the emotions they have on their face which obviously are gloomy for the lack of flight! Unfortunately caging birds is not an ofense in India though carrying them in a manner that causes discomfort in an offense! This is a link to the fundamental rights the aminmals have in India! Link:
Did you know it is illegal to relocate stray dogs that have been spayed?

@AKRao24 Thank you for the link. The actual political leading party in Switzerland is asking for more rights for the animals.

I don't like to see birds in small cages. Aviaries are a better choice if people want to keep birds. One of my friends once had many birds, and they lived in large aviaries. I feel bad for birds who are forced to live in small cages.

Yes dear @Porcospino, birds they enjoy aviaries and they have their own environment in that small place and they breed very successfully there! But how ever keeping a bird in a small cage is really an act of cruelty and I would never appreciate that!

i agree with your words what means of happy. i don't like if any pet will be caged even strips in dog neck. we have equal rights and we not have to do that with animals and birds too. my cousin has pet something like a different bird and it living in open house but not in a cage and if we give the love they will not go away surely.

I have a caged parrot. I'm sorry that she is caged but she was bred in captivity and wound up in a bird rescue. I adopted her from there to give her the best life I can. She CAN'T go out and live in the wild now. She wouldn't survive. I think they should stop breeding parrots and birds for pets. It isn't fair to them.

I understand that dear @NJChicaa ! The pets or any animals that are bred in captivity can't survive in nature and these animals are to be given best possible shelter with the human beings. Breeding Parrots and Parakeets for pets is not fair for them but for the demand they have in the market the breeders keep on breeding them!

@AKRao24 I have never been a bird person. I thought people let their birds out of the cage. What is see in the picture is too many birds in one cage. I would think if one or two would be fine.

Yes, having birds in cage is not a good thing and over crowding is very bad and it is practically cruelty against them!

@AKRao24 You are right it is very cruel. First of all the cage should never be overcrowded and the bird or birds should be able to get exercise and fly around for a bit. That is what I feel.

I had a budgie in a cage when I was young and didn't think much about it being cruel at the time and it had never known a different life so it seemed happy enough, Now that I think about it perhaps it was not the best life for it but it was fed and looked after and even imitated a little so knew some words. Averies were not common back then but I think a large avery with other birds would be a nice environment for them.

I do not agree with caging any animal, I hate that I have to keep my dogs in the huge backyard. My sister won`t allow her cat outside, I do not agree with that either. But the world is as it is.

This is a hard one for me. I have family members who have parrots and they are a big part of the family. They are well trained. They are allowed to roam and fly about in certain areas of the house. I couldn't do it, but their birds seem to be very happy and well taken care of. They consider them family members.
