This one hit wonder is a whimsical sounding instrumental with a tinkling piano imitating a prancing alley cat on the prowl. Composer-pianist Bent Fabric is Danish and worked primarily as a film composer in Denmark. From the album of the same name, “Alley Cat” was an unlikely worldwide hit (#1 in Australia) and gold single at Billboard #7. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Rock and Roll Recording! “Alley Cat” has been heard on movie soundtracks like “Cabin Boy” and in TV shows including “The Family Guy.” Al Hirt and Ray Conniff covered the tune. Fabric is still alive at 94.

Oh, yeah, I remember that one! (From later, of course, but I’ve heard that and various covers oodles of times.)

Truly man it's a masterpiece. Most of Ray Conniff works are great. How should i put it his composition gives me a jazzy gospel feeling.

I love to listen this song, but sad to say that the video is not available in our country.
