If you have a decision to make, what helps you to make a wise decision?
* Gather all pertinent information.
* Don't rush, give it the time it needs.
* Research the pros and cons. Write them down so that you don't forget them.
* Think of the possible benefits and the consequences, the advantages and disadvantages.
* Pray for wisdom and success.
What helps you to make wise decisions?

If the decision does not bring good results when you've done your best then it is not your fault. With time you will get better at it and so just keep on going!

@db20747 Anything is possible!
However, there are some things in life that are even better than gold and silver.
Proverbs 16:16 King James Version (KJV) 16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

Do you do a lot of thinking before you decide which direction to go?

He actually wants us to go to him and seek his wisdom and help because he loves us!
1 Peter 5:7 New International Version (NIV) 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Sometimes what helps me make a wise decision is to not do something too risky, but also to take some risks. After all, often the biggest risks are not taking one.

Wisdom is knowing when to take a risk and when to not do it.

Depends on what the problem is or what the project may be at the time. But, I can tell you I thank God for the knowledge he has given me.

Those are all great advice … esp. prayer. If it's something small I will sometimes use online choice maker

I utilize all of the above mentioned methods except prayer. Never considered that one but hey, at times prayer may be as good as any
I do a lot of researching on the internet and also recommendations from friends depending on the decision to be made. Knowledge is fundamental in making an informed decision.

I appreciate the fact that God is available to help us when we need to make decisions.
James 1:5 King James Version (KJV) 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Praying is the first thing I do then reading God's word, going to church because God speaks to us there as well.
Then, after all of that I put my faith in God and step out there asking God to guide me and my footsteps.

Someone told me long ago to make prayer my first recourse and not my last resort. I thought that made a lot of sense!

Yes, it's a good thing to see seek higher wisdom from someone who really cares for us!
James 1:5 Amplified Bible (AMP) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.

Yes, it's good to take our time and be cautious before making a decision and test the waters to see if we are comfortable with what we are about to do.
Yes, not everything turns out as we would like.

Most of my decisions have been made for me. A light shines in the dark, and my only decision is to follow it, or not. I always follow it. Decision made.
Does God make decisions, and how?
Should we make decisions in our lives, or just follow the guidance/direction of love?
What is a wise decision?
Love never decides whether to love, or not, or who to love, (love just loves) but in lesser things, we can decide things, and yet even these then take us away from love, and so I do not so much decide, as to do the most loving thing, which is always best to do.
Thoughts come and go, decisions affect things for a bit longer, only love endures all, always, forever.
So, follow love, and let it talk to you, and take you to where you must go.
The only decision then is this no-brainer to always try to follow love, love's light in your life, and where it is shining the most is where it would like you to be now, as you are your best self, when you live in love.

Follow the light of love, and your decision will be lighter, brighter, and righter.

A wise decision is one that works out well and gives positive results. Eve was deceived into disobeying God and things did not work out well for her.
In this world there are many deceivers and many things that deceive and so we cannot just follow any light.
2 Corinthians 11:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

@1hopefulman Yes, thanks Felix. You make some good points there. I need to clarify what I said, as I usually talk overwhelmingly from the one side only.
I meant not that we follow any light, but that we follow the light of love. Now the light of love is God. So, it means that we follow God.
We live in God's way, following his will, and his plan for our lives.
This is following the example of his son, Jesus Christ, who simply said, not my way, but yours.
This too, is more about the bigger decisions in our lives.
Some things, of course, we do need to make decisions about.
In a chess game, we need to choose the best move, as much as is possible for us.
Some choices are a matter of judgment, others are a matter of preference.
What clothes to wear, how do we like our hair cut, what colour car do we prefer, etc etc.
You are right about how we need to look at the pros and the cons, the possible outcomes, or results, from our decisions, where we want to end up from our choice, and how it affects both us, and others around us.
Decisions affect more than just ourselves. A good decision harms no-one. And this is a good pointer at how to make such a decision.
