Pumpkin's Positive Post: So Proud of Everyone

You are most probably aware that I am quite excited about my upcoming events - my first foreign holiday and my wedding! Speaking of weddings, the picture I have attached here is for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. My partner and I have decided to forego wedding gifts in favour of asking for donations for the charity. So far, we haven't had any donations on our Just Giving page but, hopefully, our friends and family will donate nearer the time. Well, yesterday was a brilliant day. First, I bought some Euros for my holiday. I upgraded my phone (I'd been waiting ages for that as I'd been having to use an old phone. It was my own doing because I broke the phone that came with the contract). I then came home to my new boots. They would be the footwear I chose to go with my wedding dress. I tried them on along with my dress and jewellery. I've now got my outfit all sorted. I've not decided what to do with my hair, though. My boys made dinner last night so that was another good thing. I am very proud of both of them for so many things. They made a lovely chicken curry. I am proud of my youngest step-daughter because she finally passed her English exam. This means that she can go on to do GCSE. Usually, children in England take GCSEs at age 16. It is the first formal qualification for most. Unfortunately, my step-daughter did not complete hers and had to do something at a lower level. She is now 22 so I don't know how many times she's had to take the exams to get to this point. I am proud of her for not giving up and for finally passing. Hopefully, she will pass her maths next year so she can move on with that. I am happy for my big sister @dorypanda because she has just had news that she starts a new job soon. She's still doing her old one as well. I hope she continues to enjoy both of them. So I don't miss her out, I am proud of my older step-daughter. She is doing a brilliant job of raising three beautiful daughters. She has talked about wanting one more child and then, when the children are older, becoming a midwife. She originally went to college to do animal management. I don't suppose there's much difference between animals and people babies Finally, I am really proud of my other half. He was telling a friend of mine about when I did a skydive. It did not occur to me until later that he is still proud of me for that. He seems to like telling people about it! When I told him I was proud of him, he seemed quite embarrassed/happy/surprised - you know, like the face that girls make with the blushing when you tell them they're pretty. The reason I was proud of him on this particular occasion was because he'd told me he had written an article. Well, that wasn't the reason in itself. He said I had inspired him or that he was jealous. He wanted to think of a way he could be a published writer because I am. He told me he'd written an article to do with military tactics. He sent the article to Sandhurst (where he did officer training). They emailed him to say his article is now in their Churchill Reference Library. Of course I was very proud of him for that. I couldn't believe he had waited so long to tell me. He thought he had told me. While I remember him mentioning about the writing, it did take him two months to actually tell me he'd had a response! When I get home today, I should have a new phone, possibly a new tablet, and maybe even the girls' wedding shoes (I've got red Converse for the two older ones but I don't know what I'm going to do about shoes for the little ones). Tomorrow, I am going out with my work people. I really like working with people I like! I don't socialise with them often but it's nice that I can. We could bring a 'plus one' but, sadly, the venue is not disabled friendly so my other half couldn't come. Oh and I keep forgetting about my birthday. I am getting married on my birthday. I think I'm just too excited about getting married that I forgot it's also going to be my birthday We need to write our vows so I had better get started on that. I might write an article with our vows in. We also need a guest book. I've been writing an article about Catholic saints feast days. I wrote one last year (or the year before. I can't remember now) for August saints days and it's generated almost half of my total views on Vocal. When my other half saw that, he suggested I do the same for other months. I had already got that planned but not got around to doing it. I'm waiting for my youngest son to draw some pictures for a story. He did do some drawings but I've asked if he can draw them a little bigger and more detailed. I think I've gone on a bit waffly there. I might see if my step-daughter will let me share a picture of my grandchildren with you at some point in the future. Have you ever forgotten your own birthday? Or forgotten something else because you were too busy with other things? What else is going on with you? Done anything you'd like to show off?

My goodness, my life is boring compared to you. You have so much going on. What is Vocal? How exciting that your birthday and wedding dates are the same. What is the Sophie Lancaster Foundation?

@pumpkinjam I've been on several writing platforms including Bubblews, Epinions, Viewpoints, etc. I may have to check it out. Do you earn on that site? Thank you for explaining about Sophie Lancaster.

@LindaOHio yes, you can earn a little bit. I've earned about 60 dollars in the 3 years I've been on it! I probably average one article a month.

@pumpkinjam I took a look at it. 600 word minimum. I don't know. If I try, I will look you up. Thanks.

That's great you're getting married on your birthday. That's one way he won't forget it. You have a lot to be proud of with your children, other half and step-daughter. As for me, I'm working on a book, as usual.

That's exactly why we chose the date. Well, he did. He still managed to forget when he was asked ?? I was going to suggest his birthday but he suggested mine. I've been working on a book myself but I'm better with short pieces! What are you writing this time?

@just4him oh good. Science fiction is my favourite genre. I'm not sure about mystery. Not sure if I've read any or even watched anything like that.

@pumpkinjam The one I'm publishing is a mystery. The one I'm working on is science fiction.

I did read all of this, but I forgot what I was going to put. I shall do experiments on your hair if you want, I'm good with hair stuff and I'll happily do hair and make-up on the day for anyone who wants it doing. :)

I haven't even decided if I'm getting my hair cut or keeping it long! I'll need some hair grips to keep my head thingy in place. I think it's only going to be C for make-up. That reminds me, I'm supposed to message you about some wedding/hen things. I'll do that tomorrow.

Such a lovely idea to donate to charity rather than have gifts. I don't think many people would do that. Did you really do a skydive? I hate heights so would probably have passed out on the way down! I would never have known from your other posts quite how action packed your life is! You have step children too! You seem to have found your perfect life which is good to hear with all the bad stuff going on in the world. I hope you have a great day when October arrives, you will certainly have plenty to post about.

Yes, I really did a skydive. Judging by how anxious I've been about getting on a plane to go on holiday, you'd perhaps be forgiven to disbelieve that I would have jumped out of one! I wouldn't say my life is action-packed but I do like to do things! A lot of people seem to work their way up to skydiving but that was my first real adventurous thing. Last year, I abseiled (for the first time) off a 16-storey building (Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham). Both the abseil and the skydive were for charity. Someone else volunteered me for the skydive! We do have a blended family. My youngest son is the youngest of all of them. He's 14. The other three (my other son and my partner's two daughters) are all adults. The eldest daughter has three daughters of her own so I am also grandmother :) We don't see them often due to distance and logistics but we do keep in touch over Facebook, and we'll face time with them as often as we get chance. They will all be here for the wedding, though. Thank you. I will certainly be posting about my wedding afterwards. I have a plan to write an article elsewhere, which may include our vows. On here, I might just share a picture and tell you all a little about it.

@pumpkinjam You sound as if your life is working out well for you. Do you get on with your stepdaughters? You are very young to be a grandmother! I was 56 when my granddaughter was born but she may be my only granddaughters as my own daughter, although happily married, is not sure if she wants children. I will interested to read about your wedding. It sounds as if it will be a wonderful occasion.

Yes, I certainly am! I do appreciate it when things go well. It's great to know that things can be achieved when we put our minds to it. I am truly excited. I might actually spend the next 9 weeks bouncing around like an over-excited toddler (but that's quite normal for me!)
