Have you ever bought clothes just for a party?

The other day (Sunday) we had a post-season party at my teammate's house. It is a palacial estate, as he has done well with his science and business background. Coincidentally, I had blown out a flip-flop as I entered my house after my trip to Montana. I decided it was too hot for sneakers, so I decided to buy something special for the party. After the last game of the tournament, I went to the Dollar Tree and scored some new black flip flops, which I wore to the party with a nice ensemble of clean shorts and a blue t-shirt. Have you ever bought clothes for a particular occasion?

I would buy clothes only if it is really needed be it a party or for regular day to day wear. I am good at mix match and do some alterations. So I can give a new look to old clothes.

@TheHorse How did the curtains turn out? When we first got married, we had a small apartment that had a kitchen (formerly a screened in porch turned kitchen) with about then windows. I sewed curtains for every one of them!

@1creekgirl They turned out well. I don't know how to sew, so I hemmed them accurately, and used crazy glue (Gorilla Glue wood glue) to do the attachment. All I needed was an iron to flatten the hems down (I learned).

I needed you to coach me in Montana when I made curtains for the first time ever.

Yes, actually that is a good excuse to go shopping. I will check out all my clothes first but if its a facier party I will get something new. I don`t like to shop for clothes.

@TheHorse 's 'lways seemed to me a waste 'f funds? particularly with the younger set. from what i've heard, the funds spent'n their lavish weddin's would'a made a hefty down payment'n a home.

Wow. You really went all out there. lol. I MIGHT have. But it would be rare. I keep a few things around for just certain kinds of situations where I may need to appear posh.

@TheHorse The suit jacket I have is still from my wedding, 12 years ago. It still fits. I try to get all the use out of it that I can.

@TheHorse you sound as bad as MrsJ. She is currently clad in duds from 50% off day at the thrift store (a thrift store whose regular prices make Goodwill look expensive).

I have quite a few clothes so I don't really have to, but if it something special I might, and for a Halloween party, yes, I just might!

Yes. My aunt once ridiculed me. So I bought. I hardly wore it afterwards. But it served me very well at the party.

@TheHorse No, it made a difference in the respect to my hosts, you do not go to eat in some places if not dressed correctly. The waiters would have served us as they do serve everyone, but their opinion would have not been "look what an elegant, polite, well educated lady" for sure.

I guess I buy what I really need. But once in awhile I do indulge and get a new flannel or dress shirt (mostly for teaching) from L.L. Bean.

The last time we went to our daughter's house in Charleston, we met our granddaughter's new boyfriend at a brunch downtown Charleston. I bought a stylish new top to wear that wasn't too fancy, yet classy (first impressions, you know.) Most of the time I just wear whatever I have, although I do love to shop. Love the new flip flops. You can't go wrong with black. How was the party?
