My Boss Said Deceiving Is Part Of A Business

My boss is successful with regards to his business. He said if I want to get rich I must follow his lead. Follow his character. He loves to deceive people giving dates that he cannot fulfill. Taking advantage of them especially that he knows that we are the only printing press in town. Giving people overpriced deals especially if he knows that the customer knows nothing about prices. "Deceiving is part of life" he said. "If you don't have the courage to do it, you can never be rich,"... Honestly, I cannot do what he does. I am not that kind of person.

It sounds as though you should start looking for another person to work for as soon as possible! If you could start your own printing business, all the better because you would be able to undercut him easily and give realistic dates which you can fulfil on time!
Whatever! I don't think that I could work for such a dishonest person for long: if he likes to cheat his customers, I would begin to wonder what he really thinks of his staff!

If only I could... Sadly, life was roughed for me for this past few years... So, I think I need to hang in there... I can't believe that I was imprisoned with this kind of environment for more than a decade now.

He is successful because he has no competitor. I wish there was other printing press in the town run by an honest and committed person. His illusion of success would have been busted by now. I feel sooner or later he will learn his lesson.

All I can do is to work professionally for him. Though it is hard to work sometimes because I know he is fooling a lot of people... But I need this work for my family... What matter most is that I am trying hard not to do what is wrong...

@simplfred You must have a very keen businessman at hand that he knows well how to manipulate things. I think he has not found his match yet in his turf.

Oh, that's bad. It sets a bad customer service. I mean, we've to consider some profit for our business but we can't win a lottery with each and every customer. He is having a wrong strategy and he will either fail fast or he will understand that he will fail.
Even I can't tolerate this.

@simplfred Yeah, you're right. It will all look rosy now and that strategy will work now. It's just like a balloon. One day, if that's not a loyal act, it will burst in no time. I so believe in this - all good things happening in your life is purely based on how good you were in the past. Let's wait and watch. He will understand this soon.

Though it is a wrong strategy it is working right for him... Though the Printing Press business is not very stable he manages to open another business which makes him earned on a regular basis... Most of our customers, though being deceived they keep on coming back to deal again due to lack of competition here in the town...

At some point in my employment I was with the Accounting section and I was in charge of supplies and therefore ordering supplies when inventory was low was part of my job. One time I ordered 500 pads of deposit slips and 500 pads of withdrawal slips. When my order was delivered, I made a random count of some deposit and withdrawal pads and found out that they only contained 80 sheets instead of 100. When the print shop owner came to collect payment, I told him I will not pay him unless he delivered the shortage of the supplies delivered. He feigned innocence and told me that his employees must have been careless but I know he knew about it. I only paid him when delivery of the supplies was complete. Thereafter, their delivery was always complete. I was very strict with supplies and no employee can get their supplies from the stock room because I keep the key and keep track of our inventory and see to it that everything is accounted for.

@simplfred Probably that's what he thought but I was always conscious of doing my job well so I saw to it that all is in order thus the random count.

@sunrisefan, To be honest, some of our delivery is short on numbers. If no one will count it then it will favor the company.

Maybe the printer owner thinks you will not count it... but with that kind of shortage, it will be noticeable...
