These ladies showed off what they loved to do....

Apparently, if this website is to be believed, people could choose how they wanted to pose in photographs. The link I am about to show you is of ladies of varying ages with a book. My favorite photo happens to be one where the girl is staring off into space. I can definitely relate to that. I often find myself "digesting" something I've read by staring of into space. Which one of these photos is your favorite?

Hard to say which is my favorite. But I like photos of people concentrating on what's interesting to them.

When it comes to old photos, I kind of just prefer to see the old stuff. Old Cars, Trains, Street Cars, Barber Shops, even the old Cameras themselves. I liked the poses, but I was more interested in the dresses and the style of furniture around these ladies.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I enjoy seeing people "do what they do."

@TheHorse Ah, just the daily routine for them in their time?

I especially like number 4 from the top. That one reminds me a bit of some of the old photos we found in my great-grandfather's home. But the other photos are also interesting. It is interesting to see the dresses from the past and the rooms.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I love old things. My great-grandfather was a hoarder, he kept everything. My grandmother hated it and she always tried to convince him to get rid of some of the things, but I loved to explore his attic. It is was full of old things. I found some Donald Ducks magazines from the 50s which I kept. I have seen a pitcher and bowl like you mentioned. They were used as decoration in a hotel.

@Porcospino I have seen a lot of pitcher and bowls in antique stores. I think the one my mom had was a reproduction, and the majority of the ones in antique stores are the same. I am not sure if my mom ever used the pitcher and bowl, probably not. I think hoarding is both good and bad. It's great because it's keeping history, but it would be better if these hoarding types were better organized, they are not. I watch a couple of youtube channels (sometimes) where people explore abandoned places. A lot of the places they explore are filled with so many things from generations of living. A lot of the houses look like a hoarder once lived there.

Yes, I am just as interested in the rooms as I am in the subjects. I love to see old furniture, old things like the pitcher and bowl people once used to wash up. I had one of those, it was my mother's. I am not sure what happened to it,and it saddens me that it might have ended up at goodwill.

They are all great photos, but I like the one of the girl sitting with a book on her lap and a curtain with roses as background. It is more modern than the others.

@LadyDuck A book, or perhaps in front of a piano. I do not know how to play, but I'd like to think it would be a skill I would have learned in that time period.

That was a lovely photo as well. I think that I would have been photographed with a book as well, if I were living in these times.

You would think they would get really hot in those long dresses. Those women lookl ike they are enjoying their books.

I believe these dresses were thinner than people today think they are. I imagine they are still cumbersome, but I wouldn't think they were overly hot.

They are professional photos and I like number 7 from the top with the girl reclining on her sofa reading her book and the lovely artworks around her,

There were two where it could be said they were staring into space although one gal was merely looking at the camera. I liked the one where it looked like it was snowing and the gal looking hard pressed to keep her mind on the book and not the snow.

I think I would be more apt to look at the snow myself. When it does snow here (we do not get a lot of it) I can't help but to go outside and enjoy it.

Ah yes, that one was nice too. I was paying a lot of attention to the dresses myself. I do not like to wear dresses myself, but I do like the way ladies looked in all their pretty finery back then.

Number 4 must be farsighted! Number 7 is usually how MrsJ reads.

I saw number 4 and thought she looked rather tired of reading... She may very well have been far sighted, or wanted to appear that way. Number 7 is also how I like to read.
