The city, the dream

We finally decided to move out of my husband's family home 6 months ago.
So here we are in the city on a temporary lease till end of next month when our house in the 'burbs is done with renovations.
I have always dreamed of living in a city but now that we finally experienced it, it wasn't as great as it was cut out to be. It's pure chaos, traffic, expensive, shops are scattered, and people can be unruly, parking is a pain.
I still enjoyed it somehow. I am closer to work, the apartment is luxurious in a way, but I miss the suburbs. I would love a yard, not a balcony facing everyone else's balconies, a garden patch, a compost. I can't do that here.
But I need to count my blessings. At least my hubby doesn't need to go for long drive home after night shift. He's fallen asleep behind the wheel more than twice.

Oh I know, hun. I pretty much grew up in an urban setup. Although Bohol is still pretty much a very laid back city. When my mom had cancer, we relocated her to our little bahay kubo in a secluded area in Panglao, a neighboring island town and I really loved it. Surrounded by plants and trees, and so quiet you can hear the birds, the cicadas and the crickets - not the roaring engines of cars and tricycles. But commuting back and forth to work was not the most convenient. Either too packed or holding on to whatever when there was an overflow.

@Theresaaiza I can understand that. That’s why you sacrifice your comfort from home to living in the city to avoid those inconveniences of travelling.

I wish you the best in your house in the burbs. It’s a very exciting time for you and your husband.
I’ve always lived in the burbs, so I understand. My older son chose to live in Manhattan for work. He and his family enjoy the city life and all that it has to offer.
