Was Stuck At A Train for 15 Minutes!

I planned to go a way home earlier that was over the train tracks, and I saw that a train was going on the tracks. I decided to go that way since it seemed to be near the end....but then it stopped and backed up. It was stopped for a while it seemed....and apparently it added more cars onto it. Anyways, it proceeded the other way again...and got almost to the end and then stopped. Can you guess what happened then? It went the other way again! It must have needed to add more cars on that it didn't pick up before....finally it went back the original way and 15 minutes later it was finally done. Have you ever been stuck at a train that long, or even longer? Does it anger you? Do you decide to turn around and go another way, if possible? I was kind of in the middle between other cars and couldn't safely turn around...so I was stuck! Anyways, just thought I'd share about that annoyance of the day! Hope you haven't dealt with anything crazy like that today! P.S. going to work on uploading my car photos soon and start editing them.

Yes I have and on a main road. It also was adding car from the plant by the highway. I was pissed too.

Seems to be worse on main roads, that I have noticed...at least here. Sorry you have dealt with that too, it is a pain in the behind!

We have that problem in Granite City here where we have a coal plant and steel mill. It's constantly backed up with trains stopped, blocking the road, unloading coal and bauxite and whatever else.

I have stopped for maybe 10 minutes, but very rare. Glad you made it home safely though!

Glad it is more of a rare thing. It's rare that I have had to stop for a long time, I will usually drive the long way around to avoid sitting and waiting lol. Thank you :)

@MommyOfEli2013 Yes good thing it is rare. Once in a while okay, but if its often on your route home ~ I would definitely take a different route.

@infatuatedbby That is for sure! It is still frustrating even once in a while, but better than if you deal with it daily!

There is one set of tracks that I deal with anytime I go to Marion that you never know if you will be able to cross them or not. I have turned around at them before.

That would be frustrating....to have to deal with anytime you go there; and have to worry if you'll be able to cross it. I would have turned around if I was in a position that I could have!

Yes, I hate when that happens, especially if I have to be somewhere at a specific time.

That makes the waiting even worse! We all don't have all the time in the world to wait!

When you messaged me about it, I could tell how annoyed you were. I am sorry the train was so aggravating, beyond that idk what to say.

Had they just gone back once that would have been one thing, but to do it twice and add more cars...that was infuriating! lol

I have been stuck at a train stop, when they were adding my, and my gosh it took a long time, all the going back and forth, and then finally moving.

@MommyOfEli2013 it really is, the worst train experience, was on the Amtrak, the bathroom, was out of order most of the trip.

If you ask a person who live in my country then he/she will say... Thank god I was luck enough to enter in the train. Here we get stuck like for 30 to 40 mins everyday. Which is said to be normal. During water logging due to rains we had train stuck for 6 hours.

It happened to me a couple of months ago in Granite City. The train was moving into the coal plant there and stopped, then backed up and went forward a couple of times. We were there for a long time, although I didn't time it.
