A man tried to break the door lock of our newly rented house. It a single storey duplex situated just nearby the city proper. There’s already an occupant in the other door but we do not move yet to our unit because minor improvements has to be done first. Today, I visited there and learned that someone tried to break the door lock during wee hours. The location is not that visible to passing people although there are other apartments and boarding houses few meters in the surrounding. At the other end, there is a merchandise warehouse. Good thing the warehouse is manned by a security guard 24/7 and the door of the house is visible from their gate where the guard stand by. The guard noticed the illegal activity of the guy so he shouted at him preventing him to succeed his crime (thankfully). There are no valuable things yet in the house. He may have thought that he could get something useful. Tsk!
Has anyone tried to burgle in your house?
Have you been a witness of similar incident?

That is really frightening to know that someone has tried it. It seems like every time you learned this you feel insecured in the place you are staying and every time you are there you become fully aware of everything that is happening around.

Our friend's house was burgled when we were out on vacation in US. We stayed in Phoenix and had gone to LA for vacation. We came back to get this shock. They took away a lot of valuables. They were our next door neighbor.

I live in an apartment building with 6 apartments. No one has ever tried to break into ours but the apartment above us was broken into twice. We think it was someone who knew the residents because they knew that they would not be home.
