Alligators seen swimming on flooded roads in Florida

An alligator sighting in St. Petersburg Florida

If there is one deal that amazes me about alligators, it is that they see a flooded street or a swimming pool, they decide that body of water is their home. What makes me laugh is that many witnesses in the Saint Petersburg Florida region were using their equipment to film an alligator swimming on a road last week which scared one driver who had a close encounter with the water animal. The good thing was that a bystander managed to remove the alligator from the road before the driver of the auto was harmed. The alligator then was captured by officials of the Florida Fish And Wildlife Commission shortly thereafter. That is one dangerous problem when it floods in a state where it is near a body of water. Alligators and other water creatures like to call a flood zone their temporary home.

oh it means it happens in US too. just before 15 days the same thing happened here in India too as at one city Vadodara, lots of crocodiles came in the street and some entered in the house too and they also came with flooded water. it happened before too and thus public is aware and they enjoyed with them lol.

That is what I have heard on the news about Florida. Gator state and the state that attracts the most lightning strikes.

They don't know the difference. It's water; so they swim in it! It actually would have been pretty cool to see one that way.

Water to a gator is the same for fictional heroes Sub Mariner, Aquaman and Marine Boy.

I have the idea that there are more alligators in Florida because their natural predators have diminished. Is that right?? Should we do something when that happens?

You are correct on that matter. I wish I knew the answer since in Louisiana the government id doing what they can to keep the alligator homes intact from erosions.
