I was supposed to buy my new aquarium tanks some tropical fish yesterday, but there seems to be something that stopped me from doing it. First it rained heavily yesterday preventing me from going out to the pet store. Secondly, I observed through my CO2 monitor that it elevated from normal to over which kind of alarm me since the plants are supposed to absorb them and released oxygen in return. So I decided to postpone and observed further if the CO2 levels would come down. Today I also observe in the glass that algae has started to grow which is a sign that CO2 is being consumed already. I will try again to see if I can finally buy some fish this coming weekend. Crossing my fingers.

Yeah but I am glad the plants are not withering and is growing roots as well this is an indication that you the environment is suitable for them. I just need for them to really absorbed those CO2 in the water so it would be tolerable for the fish to swim in it.

@LadyDuck Or they may be some other factors I missed. For the seasoned aquarist they usually have this water testing kit that they use to measure the chemistry of the water conditions. I do not have them yet as they are a bit pricey for me, So I am relying on what I am seeing in my aquarium.

I am so eager to put in them my chosen fish but there seems to be always something that prevents me. Back then, I am not aware oif this cycling of the tank and everything but now I am following the practices of the season aquarist it looks difficult already and time consuming.

@rsa101 I thought it's your hobby before. Why do you find it difficult?

@Nakitakona Well before it was just plain and simple just put everything in the tank add water walah it's done. Now you have to see if the water conditions are okay and life can start already. Before I never had to do that that is why there is always casualty during the first few weeks of the aquarium because the chemistry of the water stresses the fish that much and their health deteriorates fast.

Yah I want to make sure that it will be ready. Although there are signs that life has started in the tank already since the plants started to show already signs that they have adapted to their new environment. The algae starts growing too in the glass. So I need to make sure this things are already well establish in the tank before I add fish to it. The stress for the fish will be lessened already if everything is okay in the tank.

May your weekend wish come true... This is a nice hobby. I used to keep fishes too sometime ago. But due to time constraint, I gave up this hobby.
Setting up the tank is interesting. It's like designing a home for your fishes. Then when they live there, it's very enjoyable and relaxing to just see them moving around. Hope if Ive got some extra time next time to take up this hobby again...

Yeah you need to give it a time. Once you neglect them the fish would be stressed and some will die. The chemistry in the water is of vital importance there should be balance of everything from O2 to CO2 to nitrates, water chlorine and many more. Back then, I was not aware of these I just put in the anti chlorine then the plants and the sand then the fish. But nowadays there is the cycling method where you need to have your tank settle in the good bacteria and everything.

You still don't have fish over there? Are your future fish expensive? right now I couldn't afford to clean the rocks because of the newly born mollies. I might just buy a new top filter on the small aquarium.

Thanks it seems a bit challenging balancing the water parameters in here. You have to monitor everything if the chemicals and other living matters are doing what they are supposed to do to make it livable for the fish. The fish will be the last to show up in this tank.
