Make No Beans About These Eggs

A couple of posts ago I was ranting on about this Just Crack An Egg product that has hit the market at $2 a pop and DOESN'T EVEN COME WITH THE DARNED EGG!
I was doing a bit more math, arguing with my brother in law since he has been eating these darn things.
That little container, which has no egg in it—you have to provide your own—is only 3 ounces of food.
3 OUNCES!!!
When you work it out, you are eating scrambled eggs for $10.67 per pound. Holy moly!
I told my brother in law they had hamburger meat on sale at the local grocer for $11 per pound. He immediately got this look on his face and said, "What??!!! That's outrageous. Who would pay $11 a pound for ground beef?"
I smiled and said, "Probably the same guy who would pay $11 a pound for scrambled eggs."

Oh yeah, I saw those and loved the idea, until I figured out what a rook it is. Too bad. You're paying for the simplicity.

Indeed it is. It's just crazy to me. But people don't look at unit cost. They just think wow that's easy and convenient, and then shell over the money having no idea. Those same people would pass up a piece of filet mignon not wanting to pay the price without knowing they might be able to afford it if they could afford this. lol

It truly is outrageous. I feel the same way about bags of snack foods, like chips. I figured up the cost per pound and was amazed.

@Writingghost It is. And unfortunately most of the time it's people who cannot afford it doing it.

It is amazing what some people are willing to pay for convenience.

Sometimes things seem like a good deal, and convenient when they definitely aren't! I never planned to buy this product, and now I won't even re-think it!

@porwest I don't think cooking is way too easy, but it's not so hard that this seems to be the miracle fix lol. But there are many dumb products out there!

This shows how gullible people are, easily fooled into thinking something is convenient. Also how they lack confidence in their own cooking skills. Big rip off. I have been getting eggs for 58 cents per dozen for about a year. I love it because it is so easy to cook up a tasty meal with them, with no extra packaging.

People are stupid, and stupid is what stupid does. I hate to put it into those harsh terms, but it is just the truth. Marketers are all too aware of how many people simply do not pay attention, and the term "A fool and his money will soon be parted" is not just a saying, it is an actual marketing strategy. Look, Coca-Cola has been doing this for YEARS. The price of a 20 ounce Coke is the SAME as a 2-Liter bottle. BUT, Coca-Cola also knows if someone is out and about and wants some soda to wet their whistle, they are NOT going to buy a 2-Liter bottle, they are going to buy an ice cold 20 ounce Coke. One 20 ounce bottle of Coke? About $1.59. That 2-Liter bottle costs about the same. And in fact, SOMETIMES it's less. Coca-Cola makes way more money selling convenient 20 ounce bottles than 2-Liter bottles, and so the price has NOTHING to do with the actual cost of the product. It has EVERYTHING to do with what the consumer is willing to spend.

Funny story there and maybe you can persuade him to go back to normal eggs again.

As I often like to say, and will never back down from; there is a reason people are poor, and it's not by accident. The people least likely to afford certain things are the ones most likely to spend more on everything. K-Cups are a good example of that. A K-Cup 10x's the cost of cup of coffee, and yet, you will find a Keurig in the home of someone who has no money. It makes no sense, but it does make sense why they have no money.

Surprisingly enough, over the years he has started to take a lot of my advice. I guess when the proof is in the pudding that I know a thing or two about money matters, one starts to listen more. He's still mostly an idiot when it comes to money. But he's gotten better.

Did he finally agree? My grandson saved his money to buy one. He then yelled "Why did you let me buy this?"
"You can read. It was your money. I bet next time you think twice!"

I like those eggs too actually. For a bit more you can get a Jimmy Dean product with the when but I like the or idea ones better.
I intended to say I wouldn't consider eating beans with eggs, thank you very much.
I just left a comment on your blog linked in your profile. I'm hoping it's awaiting moderation as it didn't say. I copied it and will save it on my phone in case it's lost in space. If that's the case I can give it to you here.

That's crazy it would cost that much for scrambled eggs. It's cheaper to make everything myself, and healthier, and I get more than three ounces.
