Today is Sri Krishna Janmasthami- the Birthday of one of our most revered God Sri Krishna, who was an avatar(incarnation) of Lord Vishnu- the Preserver of our Universe.
People celebrate this festival with much fanfare, especially in Vrindavan and Mathura in North India.
An interesting thing is that this festival falls during the monsoon season, but mostly it rains this day.
And today also, it has been raining a lot.
Yet apart from being involved in the festivities, I am going to take part in a writing contest.
It has been a while since I have been away from writing track, except for a few stories, articles and a few poems.
Sometimes, it takes much more than a plan to get back to the something from which we have been off track.
But this time, I am keen to make amends.
So what's up in your life?

Honestly, in South India ..it is almost a non-event. But in Rajasthan it was huge! I remember we used to buy sweets and fast on this day. I still wonder why they made us fast because we were supposed to be celebrating the Lord's birthday. But whole day long no eating, and finally eat the sweets. Night out...all songs and dances ...it was fun but being hungry was not.

@vandana7 I do follow a fast. But not a very strict one. I do have tea with Snacks meant or fast in the morning.
Then have buttermilk with Jaggery and boiled Potatoes in the afternoon, and a preparation of Makhane Kheer (a milk prep.) with Buckwheat flour(Kuttu Atta) fried balls in the evening. So it is fasting but in a way heavier than normal!!
And we have celebrations in society and the kids do enjoy a lot.
