What does Obama's purchase of a Martha's Vineyard mansion tell us?

Obama's new mansion in Martha's Vineyard proves one of two things:
1) He's even worse at thinking things through than we ever imagined.
Or
2) He knows that global warming is all a lot of nonsense and the coastal areas are not going to be submerged. In other words, he lied to us for 8 years.

He paid $14.8 million for that coastal property. That in itself makes a statement. Are we invited? He who believes in "sharing the wealth" is going invite all of us to camp on his beachfront and share a BBQ, right? Or he is going to develop his 27 acres for affordable housing, right?

If he thinks the latter he is being really stupid, because nonsense it most certainly is not!
However, he may have faith in the ability of mankind to turn back the tide of climate change and limit the rise in ocean levels to a point that will not lead to Martha's Vineyard being submerged within his lifetime.

@garysibi Sorry - that argument has been trotted out many times, and debunked just as readily. The current warming cannot be accounted for as a purely natural phenomenon.
It is real, it is serious, and the United States really needs to join the rest of the world in recognising that fact and not pretending otherwise.

@indexer Worldwide, temperatures have been flat for the past 25 years ago. While one area may have had a warmer than normal, somewhere else will be cooler than normal. It averages out.
The Paris Accords will accomplish nothing. Even if it works as well as it's proponents claim, by the end of the 21st century the temperature will be reduced by an amount small that no one would be able to tell the difference.
It would actually be a good thing if the Earth warmed up a bit. People would be healthier and agriculture would improve meaning more available food.

@garysibi I do not understand why so many people - nearly all of them American - choose to ignore the evidence and keep believing the myths. Or maybe I do understand - being told that your lifestyle will have to change if the planet is to survive is never going to be welcome, and Americans have more to lose than most.

Very true. My problem is that he used his platform as president / former-president to tell everyone to do exactly what he is doing the opposite of. It's his hypocrisy.
