Very Disappointed

I am quite disappointed.
For monthes now, I have been getting ready to start volunteering at my local library starting in September. I thought this would be good. I thought if a librarian should retire, quit, etc., I would be in a good position to be hired.
Yesterday, I stopped at the library to pick up a book. Guess what? A new face greeted me at the desk. I thought maybe a librarian's kid was sitting there. Nope.
A new hired librarian.
So... I am sincerely disappointed.
How would you feel?

Do you have a library science degree?
I am under the impression that you must have a degree in Library Science to be eligible for working in a library as a librarian. Here, atleast they used to, have library page positions. These positions were filled by teenagers and only offered to teenagers. I thought about doing that when I was a teenager (many years ago now) but for whatever reason I never did.

I would likely still volunteer. It will keep your face in front of people and their mind on you. Who knows, they may at some time expand services and need more librarians or library desk attendants. Where I used to live is hiring for that type of a position.

Well, I am already scheduled to work as a volunteer next month. My resume has been on file at the library for over a year for employment.

I love going to the library! We have three ladies who only work one or two days a week. They alternate, with two full time ladies.
