A Change In Climate

Has anyone taken a trip from a rather cold climate to a much warmer one?
I live in the Midwest - we're famous for our extremely cold and bitter winters. In December, one of our coldest months, I'll be taking a trip to Florida.
To put this into some perspective... Detroit, Michigan's average temperature in December is 23°F or -5°C. Florida's average temperature is 60°F or 16°C.
Has anyone here taken a similar trip? Or perhaps going from a warmer climate to a colder one? What was it like? What did you pack? Was it as you expected or much different?

its terrible to visit that kind of climate and its very big change and it may effect on health. Obviously if people don't know they not do any preparation.
