Plant-based "meat" not good for your health

John Mackey, co-founder and CEO of the Whole Foods chain of grocery stores said recently that, although the new plant-based "meat" might be good for the environment but they are not good for your health because they are too highly processed. I'm no expert but it seems to me that the more processed a food is, the more nutritional value it will loose along the way. I remember enough college biochemistry to know that protein molecules, which contain many atoms in a long narrow molecular structure, are easily destroyed by heat or even shaking. If you want to be a vegetarian, great. I hope you enjoy it. But I'm sticking with meat.

Actually, what they want is just put this unreliable concept to us all, then sell the products out. Even though most of people won't believe it or won't gonna buy it. But for vegetarians, it is just a new type of food. That's all. However, I'm not going to buy it. Yet, if I'm a vegetarian, I prefer to make dishes based on the fresh vegetables or fruits, rather these "meat"! I think meat and vegetarians are contradicting each other...Well, that's how I think.

I would rather stay with meat in my meals as well as cine plant based meat sounds odd for me to eat.

If it's true or not maybe it should come from somebody who has a stake on the industry. Meat is bad now this is bad, then fruits and veggies are genetically altered and contain pesticides, I don't know what to eat anymore lol!

The guy in the article does have a stake in it. (I so much wanted to say steak.) He's the CEO of Whole Foods. I suspect they have a financial interest in it.

Excellent point. A friend of mine has heart issues and has to watch his sodium intake. "Veggie meat" is a nightmare for people on sodium-restricted diets.

Even moderately processed food has too much salt. I don't have to but I try to avoid salt. Even on something like popcorn.
