You say something but your significant other is not listening...

Sometimes I am talking to my husband in the car and he doesn't respond.
I ask him "What did I just say?" and he tells me he has no idea.
Or he guesses and ends up being wrong.
Has this ever happened to you where you tell something to your significant other but they are in their own world and are not paying attention to what you are saying?

He usually listens but doesn't often remember what I said..."No, you never told me that" or "You never said that".

Did you say something hun? I wasn’t listening.
Haha, I think it’s a trait of husbands and boyfriends everywhere to ignore their wives and girlfriends!

I wonder if the same happens in reverse where the husband says something but the wife is lost in her own world... maybe thinking about that new pair of shoes or that new handbag that was on sale at the store that they really want...

@lovebuglena I'm pretty sure it does work in reverse. But since I'm a guy, I can only speak from experience on my side of the equation! lol

@moffittjc I can tell you that sometimes when my mom tells me something it goes in one ear and out the other, especially when she calls me and keeps on talking and talking and talking.

I found that most often when my children were young. I always said I was talking to the walls

Sometimes when you talk to adults it's like talking to a wall.

When this happens sometimes it feels like I am talking to myself.

I ask him what he is thinking about and he says nothing. How can you think about nothing? How can you make your brain do that?

That's what I want to know. But hey, if you are thinking about nothing you are actually thinking about something aren't you?

@lovebuglena Apparently not - according to a seminar I went to they can think about nothing.
