Friend needed money to help pay her power bill. She has a good sized van. I have a small couch or love seat that should never have been near big bad Leah pup's claws and bulk. I bought a cover for the couch. RIP! And shred. So.... we said that we'd pay friend if she'd come get the disgraceful and abused piece of furniture and take it to the county dump. She agreed. Hubby worked the piece until he finally got it out the front door and partly down the deck steps. Friend and her boyfriend got it into her van. We have an old but not so horrible stuffed chair that we will put in the couch's place. This living room now has a large empty spot in it. Two chairs and an empty spot. And tons less fur and dirt cause its all in the county dump. I guess we really are moving. One piece at a time.

Thats the way to do it. At the rate you're getting rid of unwanted stuff you might need to buy new 'old' furniture once you actually do move.

@rebelann True. I'm getting more of an idea of what is truly worth keeping. Now to figure what to do about Leah needing a place to lay besides the hard floor.

We got rid of our love seat not to long ago and gave it to our one daughter as it still had life left to it. The spot was filled with another recliner, so now that is what we have in there, 3 of them one for each of us. I need to let more go thou and get this place together. Was nice way to help each other out.

@sallypup Me too and hubby likes to collect and is famous for saying, "I might need it one day." Finally getting him to part with some of his treasures. One big downfall for me is books and crafts.

@lthink Thanks. We think alike. I put an old stuffed chair out where the little couch was. Its not easy to let things go. At least I get attached to stuff.

@Ithink Last year after I made the huge leap and talked my hubbyin to buying the house, well, that is when I ransacked my present house. I am not crafty. I wish I were. So there were half finished projects tucked into drawers. I grabbed and got them out and kept them out. Dang its hard work. And books..... I gave away many paper backs. I kept my coffee table books and will keep them....books on the Impressionist painters for one and garden books and Tasha Tudor. Glorious books. And an Aunt Bea cookbook!

I have a couch I'd want to get rid of too. It's in decent condition other than a leg that won't stay attached. I may contact the salvation army to see if they'd want to try to fix it and sell it. They will pick it up otherwise it's going to the road. Not sure when though.

@MarshaMusselman I wish I could get someone to come get my easy chair but no one will. I can't put it by the road, either.

@sallypup we can put almost anything by the road once a month when big garbage pick up comes.

@MarshaMusselman I wish my area had that kind of service. Over at my place, a milk tanker truck or hay truck might hit the stuff sitting on the side of the road.

@andriaperry Leah pup really did a number on the little couch. Hubby worries about her needing to lay on something soft due to arthritis but I don't have an answer. A couple of years ago I bought a thrift store big pillow for her and thank God that only cost 2.00.....

@andriaperry That's a good question. I do have an old blanket that I can't get the fur off of.
