Wasn’t 2009 just yesterday? A decade has blown by just like that. There were 32 movies crossing the $100 million mark with the top 10 all surpassing the $200 million plateau. Plenty of popular movies people enjoyed but a dearth in true enduring classic quality fare.
“Sherlock Holmes” ($208,400,000): A lighthearted take with modernistic sensibilities on Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. The 2011 sequel “A Game of Shadows” bombed.
“Alvin the Chipmunks: The Squeakwel” ($219,100,00): Amazing how much money these chipmunk movies earned.
“The Blind Side” ($255,960,000): Sandra Bullock won the Best Actress Oscar for this feel good true story.
“Star Trek” ($257,730,000): Prequel reboot of the famed series.
“The Hangover” ($277,330,000): The raunchy comedy made Bradley Cooper a star. Followed by two lesser sequels.
“Up” ($293,100,000): Disney/Pixar movie won Best Animated Feature Oscar.
“New Moon” ($296,630,000): Second installment in the wildly popular “Twilight” series.
“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” ($301,960,000): The sixth entry in the series adapted from J.K. Rowlings’ books.
“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” ($402,120,000): First sequel in the noisy special effects sci-fi extravaganza series.
“Avatar” ($748,470,000): Computerized special effects laden epic commentary on imperialism was a worldwide billion dollar box office bonanza.
The year’s Best Picture Oscar winner “The Hurt Locker” failed to crack the top 100 box office movies.
How many of these moves have you seen?

@JohnRoberts
I noticed Alvin and the Chipmunks on Netlfix and Hangover. I want to see Alvin. I saw Up but really did not like it and saw some Star Trek on Netflix.

The only one I saw in the theater was Avatar. Some of the others I have seen on TV.

I have seen 7 of them, I will be glad when they ever come out with Avatar 2, everytime I hear about it I think the date seems like it goes up another year before it's coming out.
