How long does your dishwasher run?

I tend to run my dishwasher on the pots and pans cycle because it simply does a better job of getting the dishes clean. However, that cycle I swear runs 4 hours. It just runs and runs, and runs. This is the longest washing and dryer time on a dishwasher I have ever had. Even if you run it on a normal wash cycle it still takes a good 2 to 3 hours. When you run your DW you better make sure your are not needing anything out of it..cuz it is going to be hours before you have access to the dishes and of course even when it stops everything is hot for another hour. I don't need to have it on heated dry, but I just like things sterilized. Is this normal? It just seems like it takes forever!

That is probably what I should be doing, but it is just easier to toss them in the DW.

It happens to me the same way. So after I fill it, I wait for the night to make it start. And I close all doors in between so I donĀ“t hear all the sounds it makes

My grandparents never had a dishwasher. Both sets of them, never used them.

Does your Dish Washer get the water as high as about 400 degrees? If so that is a bit too hot, but I know someone who does this just so they don't have to worry about waiting for the dishes to dry out as 400 degrees is awfully hot! By the way, I hand wash all of our dishes. I do the washing and the drying and putting them away. No big deal. I am pretty much used to doing this and have done it most my life.

I am not sure why this dishwasher runs forever..It probably needs a repair anyway. I will ask the tech when they come out.
