Dwarf goats inspire a limerick - or five

A while ago I joined a website for writers. I enjoy writing here so much that I’d stopped writing in a serious vein and I wanted somewhere that would stimulate or inspire me to write something other than what I do here. I belong to a local writing group but I rarely manage to attend as we are away quite often. So, while this site has its positives and negatives, as do all sites, I’ve been pushing myself to enter whatever competitions I possibly can. The latest contest was for a humorous limerick featuring animals or creatures and I came up with this one. Obviously I wrote it to fit the photo. The short legs of the dwarf goats always make me laugh. DON'T LOOK SO SMUG Why do you pose with your nose in the air? There’s nobody here to stop and stare? I know I’m a pain But you’re just a plain Jane However, we make a good pair You know about the hairs on your chin? And no one could e’er call you thin And those legs while stable Would best suit a table Your ego gets under my skin There’s no point in standing up tall ‘Cause you’ll never be nought but small you might think you’re crash-hot I for one think you’re not You’ve no beauty about you at all I guess you have kept your figure Struth, if I get much bigger – But it’s not nice to gloat We’re both just dwarf goats So stop it with all of your sn**igger I do hope I’ve not spoilt your day And as friends we always will stay But stop looking smug Take that smile of your mug Come on, let’s go eat some hay.
