Do you have a housekeeper?

In my last neighborhood so many people had housekeepers to help them keep up with housework. It seems like such a helpful thing. While I would love to have someone help me keep up on my housework I feel like I would need to clean before they arrived at my home. Do you have a housekeeper? Do you want a housekeeper? What are your thoughts?

I had a cleaning lady at the house who would come every 2-3 weeks. I don't need one here at the apartment. It is small enough that I can easily clean it myself.

Its all about the time right? Id love to have more time to be with my family and just enjoy life but really I should be scrubbing that toilet right now. Time is a tricky thing to manage. I would love a housekeeper but really I don't need one.

@NJChicaa Yes! I hate cleaning but its a necessary evil. I keep thinking if I had less stuff I could clean less but then I struggle to decide what I want to live without.

I wish I had a cleaning lady. Sadly, we don't and we just do it ourselves as best as we can.

Its a dream but one I don't think I would ever really do. I would love someone to come in a clean but I don't really want another bill to deal with. I guess if I just thought of all the money I was saving by doing it all myself it might take the sting out of it all.

I have never had a housekeeper. I am paying someone to help me mow a bit of my three acres. But.... when we move west, I might think about hiring a housekeeper. That house will have an upstairs plus a main floor.

Fun! When are you moving? That feels like a pretty big job in its self!

@sallypup We have an antique dresser we love that we always move ourselves just for that reason. Those tiny wooden wheels are just not made to move around that much. Sometimes we will push it a bit to clean under it but other that that we always just pick it up and move it. I love it so much though. My Great Grandma bought it when her family was young and refinished it for her use. When she was ready to move out of her home into an assisted living center we got to take the dresser to our home. I makes me feel like I have a little bit of the past living with me.

@happythoughts Three years. I started cleaning out and shedding stuff last year. Even with all I shed, its going to be a huge job moving us across the state. I love old furniture....somebody will make money helping us get stuff down steps and then up steps. I need someone who understands that dressers with old wooden wheels need to be picked up.... not rolled. Those wheels are mighty weary now.

I don't and would never get one. I enjoy doing some household chores and my spouse does the other

Oh how I wish I enjoyed housework. I enjoy a lot of things but housework is not one of them. I guess maybe that is the answer though. If I changed my attitude about the work that needed to be done it wouldn't feel like so much work but rather just time spent. I will have to ponder on that one. Thank you for the new perspective on things.
