Our neighboarhood, kinship

At our place, we have a very unique tradition. When someone is going to build a new house in a residential area, all the adult men in the neighborhood will help them make the house with free of charge. Homeowners just simply provide them lunch and afternoon meal, which is also assisted by mothers who live in the local environment. Here the sense of kinship is very high, people love to help each other. How about your place? Does a sense of kinship like that still happen?

What a lovely thing to do. I have heard of people helping their friends when building a house, but it's rare in England.

However, culture is diminishing because people in this era prefer to live independently
