How often do you shop for groceries?

I think I hate grocery shopping. I am trying to convince my husband that with good organization, food storage and a great garden I can cut our grocery shopping down to once every other month. He thinks this is not an easy thing to do. What do you think? Can I grocery shop every other month if I plan it out? How often do you shop for food?

I go every week. Fresh fruit and produce doesn't last for 2 months and I don't have a garden.

Our garden was awful this year. We got lots of peas and that was it. I bought a lot of produce in bulk and froze what we couldn't use right away. Frozen isn't as good as fresh but its better than running into the store when you really don't feel like dealing with the thousands of other people that also do not feel like being there.

Hi, well, I buy every 15 days, especially when I don't have vegetables in my garden, but I try to buy non-perishable food because here in my country the electricity is very bad.

We depend so much on our electricity. I often worry about what would happen if we didn't have it. We have two fridge freezer combos and a stand alone freezer that would all go bad. I guess I would buy things like rice and beans a lot more. What kind of foods do you eat often?

I usually check all my stock on weekends and if I need anything then I go and shop. If I can avoid then I postpone it to the following weekend.

I have just started to check my stock before I shop and it makes such a difference. I end up planning my menu around what I have instead of planning around what I think we want to eat and we buy so much less. I don't feel like my pantry is running low on anything either yet. I think it will get to that point though. I am running out of rice so it looks like I need to buy bigger containers of that.

@happythoughts i have just downloaded a grocery shopping app that supplies milk, fruits and vegetables in addition to bread early in the morning. I have found it very useful as I get my stuff early in the morning and I can only order what I need. Since I come back late from work at night I often forget to buy my groceries or else am too tired to stop.

I go at least once a week. Sometimes, it's twice, depending on things. It really just depends on the week. For the most part it's at least once a week.

I guess I should. I haven't been shopping in three weeks now and I don't miss it at all. My family says they are out of milk though. I don't drink the stuff so I don't miss it at all. I guess I am learning that we all work our lives a little differently and that is okay.

I don't think it's possible to shop only once a month... Good luck doing it every other month.

Anything is possible though right? I know I could do it I am just not sure I am organized enough to do it.

@lovebuglena I might be weird about it but I buy a lot of things in bulk so I only need to do it once in a while. If I am going to the store I make it worth my while. We could easily make it a few months with out going to the store but we would be eating beans and rice the whole time. Lol, nobody want to do that.

@happythoughts Unless you buy a huge amount of stuff on one shopping trip I am not sure how you can last two months on one shopping trip worth of stuff. But yes, anything is possible.

I go grocery shopping every week. It's one of my stress-relievers

How does shopping relieve stress? I've never really enjoyed it. I used to shop at 4:30 am so I had the store to myself. That was definitely less stressful. I guess its all in the attitude you take to the store though.

It looks like that is the most normal schedule out there. I just don't love shopping but I do it when I need to.
