Trump's Personal Airplane

I was just flashing back on Trump's 757, now that he has a flashy new Air Force B747, I was wondering about his poor neglected personal 757.
Trump's 757 was one of the highest time, if not the highest time 757s in the air, when Paul Allen bought it for a personal jet. Probably for good reason, The aircraft had been doing passenger service for a now defunct budget airline.
Allen sold it to Trump, who had it painted, and new interior work done. Trump also leased two Rolls Royce engines from Rolls Royce for the prestige, and increased performance the optional engines offered.
Of course, since entering the business jet life, by now, the Trump 757's flight hours may have been eclipsed by another still flying 757.
Boeing discontinued the 757 in 2004, because newer 737s, and Airbus A321s, were now competitive with range, and cheaper to fly with more up to date technologie.
I have little doubt when the Trump kids quit borrowing Daddy's jet, the engines will be recliamed by Rolls Royce, and Trumps luxurious plane will end up in a boneyard someplace.
Oops, gotta go to the Doctor, running out of time.

I was just thinking the same thing Alfredo. It must be nice to be so wealthy as to be able to buy, sell and trade jets the way some people buy sell and trade autos.

Missed the end of that sentence.
Yes, lots of wealthy do own their own planes. Most aren't as expensive to fly as Trump's 757. Many are less to operate, and better perfermers. Although Trump's plane was probably inexpensive for the initial purchase, as jet airliners go, the expense to redo the interior was probably quite high. Of course, he just rented the engines, they're super expensive.
There are lots of tax and business advantages to owning a business aircraft. There are wiser investments than the 757.
Many own a jet, then lease time back to an operator for charter and rental. So other celebs and tycoons can use it. There is fractional ownership, where entities split the time. Write off losses etc...
Most of the rich and famous wouldn't like a jet like Trumps, they want to be incognito, That's why so many Gulfstreams and other jets look less distinctive than Trump's flying billboard. Trump's main business before being the means to America's distruction was promoting his name.

I don't know much about his personal jet but I did get the chance to fly on Trump Shuttle, his now closed airline. this Airline was active from 1989 to 1992 and in 1991 his airline had a short term government contract to shuttle troops from 5 different bases in the states and it also had a contract to shuttle troops from the states to and from Saudi Arabia. I returned from Saudi Arabia to Cherry Point, N.C. by one of these planes.

@Bensen32 No problem, Trump's previous plane was an ancient 727, way too expensive to fly by today's standards. It's my understanding that he purchased his 757 for the airline, before he decided to make it his own. I was thinking maybe he'd gotten his 727 the same way. Not that it matters.
Glad you made it home okay.

It is not a big deal that a person as rich as Trump has is own plane. I have heard of many celebrities that have their own aircraft.
