Do violent video games make kids violent?

I am not convinced that games like GTA and the like promote violence in children, or anyone who plays them for that matter. However, there seem to be a growing number of people who agree that violent video games only serve to promote violence within society. What are your thoughts on this matter?

I'm with you on this. I'm not sure either. My son has played those games for awhile now and he is not violent, a little lazy maybe.lol. I think there are other circumstances that may contribute as well.

Yeah, my brother has been playing them for a long time too, since we were kids and he turned out just fine. I agree with you that there must be other factor involved in a child's becoming violent. Thank you for the response.

I don't agree this opinion but maybe the ones who say that know more than me

Well firstly if parents want to complain about their kids becoming violent because of a game, then they need a reality check. I am 100% against people who blame agmes for things like violence.

Yeah, I completely agree. People need to take responsibility for things and quit finding other things/people to blame their downfalls on. Thank you for your contribution to this discussion!

No I dont think so..as far as I'm concerned its the upbringing NOT any movie, tv show or vid game...my kids play GTA and other violent games, they watch violence on tv and in the movies and have since they were young (they're 11 and 13 now) and they are very passive kids...not violent or brutal at all...I personally think that is just a copout and a load of crap...ppl need to learn to own up to their responsiblity and not look for scapegoats
